Hello NHS Families,

We know many families are already planning for the summer! Please see below for information about the summer opportunities available to your student. Options range from remediation courses to interest-based workshops and Athletic Summer Camps. Beyond these offerings, we encourage students to use summer as a time to unwind and explore their interests. There are a variety of programs available to our students. Registration for some program is not yet available but we wanted to get out information including dates for your planning purposes.

Athletic Skills Summer Camp

Fueled by a strong commitment by both our athletes and our coaching staff, Northwood High School’s Summer Skills Camps are designed to teach fundamental skills in each sport and to help build up proper strength and conditioning. Camps are open to all athletes, are purely recreational, and completely voluntary. Daily attendance aids in development but is not required. Participation in camps is not offered for credit and is not a prerequisite for equal access to participate in athletics during the school year. Please note, a separate tryout date list will be posted on the Northwood High School Athletics website. The deadline to sign up for summer camps is Friday, May 29th, 2020. For more information and for details on how to register, please refer to the Athletics page of the NHS website or click here for the flyer. Please note, all athlete must be cleared before participating in camps and tryouts through athleticclearance.com. For questions, contact Lisa Zuorski at 949-936-7203.

Purchases can be made by cash or check by mail or you can drop it off in the envelope on the front office door Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm or through the NHS Webstore.

IUSD Summer School – Onsite and Blended

The Irvine Unified School District is excited to offer its annual Summer School programs for grades 9-12. There are two choices; the blended program housed at San Joaquin High School and the on-site program at from June 11 to July 23, with the exception of July 3-6 to honor the Independence Day holiday.

The Irvine Unified School District Summer School program operates under a donation model. While some districts have opted to cut their summer programs due to budget restraints, the Irvine Unified School District is seeking to preserve this valuable opportunity by asking for donations from participating families. Below each course description in the catalog, you will find a “suggested donation” amount to help cover the cost of instructors, materials, facilities and other support services. The Summer School program presents an incredible opportunity for our students, whether students are pursuing remediation, enrichment or the chance to get ahead. As such, we are hoping our funding model is sufficient to run all of our course offerings and satisfy the needs of every family. Please know that a donation is not required to enroll, and families that choose to contribute may do so at any amount. Our goal is to offer each of these courses, and your donation will help support this goal. Insufficient funds may result in class closures.

If you have any questions about course offerings or your student’s academic plan please contact your student’s counselor. If you have lingering questions about Summer School registration, donations or logistics after reading the catalog, please use the correspondence links below. On-Site Program at IHS:

COVID-19, there will be no in-person registration for summer school this year. Please note that summer school availability is subject to change. Once Registration is closed, counselors will have an opportunity to check course requests. It is the intent of IUSD to provide the highest quality summer school program we can envision. Due to the extraordinary circumstances of the current school year, donations are kindly requested in order to provide robust summer school options for students. It is our hope that we can offer a broad range of classes, without having to cancel any due to lack of funds. Any donation amount is appreciated, and families are not required to donate to enroll a student in summer school. Suggested donations are $150 for semester remediation courses, $300 per semester advancement or enrichment course or year-long remediation course, and $550 for yearlong courses. A link will be emailed out to registered families for the IUSD online donation processing system. Thank you for your support and understanding IUSD families!
