Learn More About Senior Needs Ambassador of the Month Nikki Peterson

Nikki Peterson is Excel Equine's Ambassador of the Month!

Nikki began riding when she was 5 years old in Illinois - much of her youth included riding hunter/jumpers and in Pony Club. In Kentucky, Nikki worked for Mary Lowry at Flying Cross Farm during high school as a working student. This job prepared her for her current job as a USJHA- certified hunter/jumper instructor at Razor Creek Stables. She loves seeing happy smiles on her clients' faces when they come out of the show ring and continuously strives to be the best hunter/jumper coach. Thank you Nikki for being a part of the Excel Equine team; we wish you luck on all your future endeavors!

Excel Equine & Customer Kara Toye: The Makeover Excel Equine Feeds is proud to be a sponsor of the Show competition at the Thoroughbred Makeover. Excel Equine Customer Kara Toye, who works at the Maker's Mark Secretariat Center in Lexington, KY, will be competing in Field Hunter, Hunter, and divisions with her two , Tower of Texas and War of Ideas. We stopped to talk to her about her progress leading up to the Makeover.

Tower of Texas (Tower) came to Toye with over $900,000 in U.S. racing earnings (equaling to over $1 million in Canadian dollars - where he was raced). The connections that bought Tower as a weanling still support him today and are the backbone of his aftercare journey, as they are active in his everyday wellbeing. Tower came to Toye this previous May after having been let down in pasture. In the Makeover, Tower is entered in the Field Hunter and Hunter divisions.

War of Ideas (Warrior) came to the MMSC in August 2018 as a 5 year-old stallion from Hagyard Equine Medical Institute with a knee fracture and fungal mycosis of his guttural pouch. In desperate need of care, a generous veterinarian from Hagyard donated the rehabilitation, castration, and other needed care to the lovely-gaited gray. Thankfully, he recovered from this severe issue, but developed abscesses in all four hooves shortly after his arrival. Through careful treatment, Warrior made a full recovery and began training January 2019 in the Hunter field. Having fallen in love with all the obstacles he conquered, his lovely looks, and his unruliness, Toye adopted Warrior and has him entered in Hunters and Jumpers in the Makeover.

One of Toye's biggest accomplishments and proudest moments with both of these horses has been their reactions when entered into competitions pre- maturely and handling them with grace. Her main goal and future accomplishment, Toye mentioned, will be the final product of Tower and Warrior after the completion of the Makeover. News
