Dr. Van der Schyf has over 13 years of administrative and supervisory experience including: Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Potchefstroom University for 5 years, holding administrative roles at Northeast Ohio Medical University that included Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Graduate Studies Program Director and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies for a combined 7 years, and Dean of the Graduate School at Idaho State University.

The timeline of my involvement from September 2007 until 2009 was as follows, and also led to the creation of the College of Graduate Studies: " The Northeast Ohio Medical University Board of Trustees was notified of the submission of a Notice of Intent to RACGS for a new graduate degree - September 28, 2007; * ACPE was notified of intent to offer the new degrees in a progress report - February 15, 2008; * Full proposal was submitted to RACGS - May 7, 2009; * Northeast Ohio Medical University Academic Council approved all proposed new degrees - June 3, 2009; * RACGS approval - July 24, 2009; * Ohio Board of Regents approval - September 16, 2009; * Northeast Ohio Medical University Board of Trustees approve the creation of a College of Graduate Studies to house the three new requested programs - September 18, 2009. • Program expanded to accommodate dual degrees: M.D./Ph.D., Pharm.D./Ph.D., M.D./M.S., Pharm.D./M.S. - August 2011. * First two students admitted into Program, one M.D./Ph.D., one Ph.D. - August 2011. * Program expanded to five students with the admission of three additional students: one M.D./Ph.D. and two M.S. -August 2012.
