LOW QUALITY STREET VIDEO ART IN SINGLE FRAME December 2019 Installation view of the screening during ARTIFICIAL LIGHT, 7-th annual exhibition of Contemporary Space Gallery, Varna, BG curator Daniella Radeva The project was developed during July-August 2019 Espai Sant Marc AiR programme, Sineu, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, ESPAÑA (Travel Grant by Creative Development Programme of BULGARIAN NATIONAL FUND “CULTURE”) The screening is realized by handmade cardboard projector. The dimenssions are variable. The project ironically combines the creative approaches of video art with street art and actionism in urban environments. Examining their different aspects, the project aims to find new public language. It uses the different opportunities, which are offered by these seemingly different media through its innovative approach to them in a way that aims to maximize the impact. Technically: The project works with handy and found materials, thereby reducing budget expenses to a minimum. In other words; using hand-made projectors, the project-author attacks the social environment. Conceptually: Using projection instead of physical material on facades, the project elegantly escapes the hooligan approach of street art. But he keeps the direct contact, through which street art works and adapts it for video art. Thus, video art is freed from allegations of elitism, which makes a significant development of contemporary art. КЛУБ НА ПЕНСИОНЕРА CLUB OF PENSIONERS (RETIREE'S CLUB) 9 September 2019 An art intervention on the doors of Varna City Gallery. Outside install- ation view of the intervention. The purpose of this action is to provoke reflection in pedestrians about the politics of the last few directors of the Gallery, who, in addition to being literally retired, are also developing an activity that does not honor the institution called CITY GALLERY! I'm sick of that the gallery being run by inadequate people (sometimes literally, sometimes figuratively!) I am tired by the fact that the gallery, which should be the standard of quality, shows the lowest quality exhibitions and frank kitsch; It is very important to note that the action also criticizes the lack of an adequate policy in Varna Municipality for the detention of young creative people in the city. ДЪЛБОКО МЪЛЧАНИЕ DEEP SILENCE video installation year of creation: 2006 dimensions variable DVD PAL, colour, no sound, 3 minutes, loop http://www.nenobel.net/neno-video-2006-Deep-Silence.htm https://youtu.be/FebcoPYBu1A Documentational photos (and the video in Youtube) from “WATER” International Performance Festival, Bourgas, BULGARIA 30-31 August 2019 An eager fan of the ‘Sermon with Flower” delivered by Buddha, i.e. the artist, Neno Belchev, isinterested in every form of silence – in terms of a road, or a way how to follow that road, and finally in terms of an artist - he is interested in silence as a form of influence. For this work, he follows partly the Hesychasts(quietists) - followers of the maxim: ‘In order that you can hear, you must be silent!’ The Hesychasts took a vow to keep silent, which they kept up during all their lifetime, or over a definite period of time. Similarly, Neno takes a vow to keep silent; sinking deeply in an environment, where one cannot but keep silent. Neno Belchev has a profound respect for all mystics dedicated to spiritual self-excellence, and hesincerely wishes to be like them but for unknown reasons he fails to be alike and admits this with a smile on his face. This work is the outcome of that smile. Before leaving for España, I made an art "intervention" in the urban environment of Varna. It's called "Setting the clock." I put a wristwatch, which I found in Los Angeles, on the hand of a statue in Varna, with the intention of the municipal commission to "check" and to "set up" itself to the world situation, but the watch was quickly stolen. :-) In Sineu, I repeated same intervention and no one stole the clock - the clock still stands on the statue's hand, but in Majorca the action didn't make the same sense. FLAGS July-August 2019 GRANT at Espai Sant Marc AiR programme, Sineu, Mallorca, Balearic Islands, ESPAÑA (Travel Grant by Creative Development Programme of BULGARIAN NATIONAL FUND “CULTURE”) Outside installation view of the Open Studio exhibition at Espai Sant Marc Art Space. Program Information

PROGRAM INFORMATION The International VideoArt Festival "Entre islas" ("Between Islands") emerges as a desire to connect internationally through the videoart language the artistic values of several geographical areas. Insularity and territorial issues are the artistic welding that connect these areas. The wealth of this social and cultural exchange promises to be overwhelming, and the subjects range from emigration or boundaries to concepts like identity, homeland or region. There will be curators from the different areas, and each will select a piece made by a local artist. There will be works from The Balearic Islands (Spain), The Canary Islands (Spain) Cuba, Cape Verde, Haiti and Taiwan. The festival wants to create an international conversation with a critical look at the "between islands" concept. The Festival has been shown in: -Es Baluard Museu d'Art Modern Contemporani de Palma (Spain). October 2015. -Gran Canaria Espacio Digital. Gran Canaria (Spain). May 2015. -TEA-Tenerife Espacio de las Artes. Tenerife (Spain). May 2015. -Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Quito. Quito (Ecuador). April 2015. -Centro Cultural de España en Nicaragua (Nicaragua). April 2015. -III Encontro Internacional Cinema e Terrotório. Universidade da Madeira. Madeira (Portugal). April 2015. -Salón Indieras. Lanzarote (Spain). December 2014. Next projections: -Festival Internazionale VideoArte of Viareggio. GAMC (Italy). November 2015. -4º Ghetto Biennale (Haiti). December 2015. Curators and artists. Why inviting curators instead of choosing the artists directly? Because sometimes their work is not valued enough and it has to be highligthed. In addition, curators have a wide knowledge of their regions, so their choice will be more accurate and the works will be more interesting.
