Local News: • We broadcast local news at 5:30-7am, 5-5:30pm, 6-6:30pm and lO-lO:35pm M-F and lO-lO:35pm on Saturday and Sunday. • We have an individual assigned to update our web site on a daily basis with current news. We also direct people to our web site for additional news and information. • We devote 12% ofour daily programming to local news.

Local Public Affairs: • We produce and air a Public Service Campaign "Our Kids." This is a series of PSA geared to Kids ages 8-14 promoting a healthier, drug and alcohol free and safer lifestyle. • Our morning show, "Good Morning Four States", highlights local public affairs and community issues on a daily basis. This is accomplished with in studio interviews and live segments from special community events.

Local Programming: • Kansas City Chiefs pre-season Football. • The Newton County Sheriffs debate. • We produce and air "The Lions Den" - the Missouri Southern State University's Football coaches show.

Emergency Programming: • We have a news/weather ticker that will crawl the latest news and sever weather warnings 24 hours a day. • We have two live trucks that allow us to go live at any time ofthe day or night for on-the-scene coverage ofany emergency situation. • We participate in both the AMBER and EAS alerts.

Station Participation in Community Activities: • We produce and air the MDA Telethon and the CP Telethon. • We are "A Partner In Education" with area schools in conjunction with the Joplin Globe. • We broadcast live twelve times per year from local high schools allowing the to showcase their school. LOCAL NEWS • KOLR-TV airs 33 local newscasts per week, totaling over 19 hours oflocal news programming. • Local news programs comprise one-third ofnon-network programming on KOLR-TV on an average weekday (over 3.5 hours). • KOLR-TV grew in 2004, adding 3 hrs. per week (2 & Y, hrs weekday mornings, Y, hour Sat 6pm). • Local news, weather and sports information are made available to area residents via KOLR-TV's web site. • KOLR-TV provides local news stories to viewers each month through e-mail requests, phone calls and station visits. • In an average year on morning and midday newscasts alone, KOLR-TV airs over 400 interviews with community and civic organizations on issues and topics that entertain or inform area residents. OTHER LOCALLY AIRED PROGRAMMING In 2004, KOLR-TV aired the following programs in an effort to inform and entertain area residents. • "Surviving The Storm" - KOLR-TV produced this local news special that reviewed last year's string of devastating tornadoes that affected so many families in our viewing area. • "Firefall" - annual fireworks display and patriotic celebration. • James River Assemblies annual "I Love America" Fireworks display and patriotic celebration. • Annual Muscular Dystrophy Telethon. • Missouri Gubernatorial Debate, live from Kansas City, MO. • KOLR-TV airs the syndicated educational and informational children's program "Wild About Animals" which seeks to inform children about animals and wildlife both in their immediate environment and in nature. • Each year, thousands ofresidents from around the Ozarks attend or participate in The Ozark Empire Fair. KOLR-TV supports this important community event through comprehensive daily news reports on activities at the fair that are ofcommunity interest.

COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES • Based on conservative estimates, KOLR-TV airs over 10,000 public service announcements over the course of a year. These messages inform viewers on a wide variety ofnon-profit topics and represent local, state and national non-profit organizations. • In recent years a number oforganizations have sent KOLR-TV letters ofappreciation for our assistance in helping to support and promote their organizations' activities. Answers By Heart- Answers by heart is a 2 week program educating people on heart health while helping to promote and ultimately raise money for America's Greatest Heart Run And Walk benefiting The American Heart Association.

America's Greatest Heart Run-Live broadcasts from the American Heart Association Health And Fitness Expo as well as parts of the race and the wrap-up presentation. This furthers our commitment to the health and wellness of our community.

United Way - Broadcast a series of Public Service Announcements promoting donation and the awareness of the organization.

The - We assist in events and fundraising efforts. We run PSA schedules and promotional schedules for the following events 1. Offer sales incentives to clients that offer a % of proceeds to benefit the zoo, prOViding the clients a matching bonus value. 2. Offer Promotion and station involvement in the following events: a. Wine In The Wilderness b. Easter Extraveganza c. Java In The Jungle d. Halloween Spectacular

The Children's Museum- We support The Children's Museum by promoting the museums events as community service as well as offering sales packages that offer proceeds to the museum similar to the Utica Zoo. Past events we have promoted include an ethnic festival and the Museum's Golf tournament fundraiser in June.

Toys For Tots Live 36 Hour Toy Drive - We produced and aired a 36 hour toy drive with updates from a remote location for the entire 36 hours.

Relay For Life- We promote this event through on air promotion of the event as a community service project and a live telecast from the event. We also organize a team to raise money in support of the American cancer society. In addition we broadcast PSAs for the cancer society throughout the year.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Promoted an awareness of the health risks through PSAs airing in October 2004. Supported a community fundraising luncheon with announcements, purchase of a table and by obtaining client donations of gifts baskets for raffle.

Run/Walk To The Rescue, Ted Moore Walk/Run, Habitat Bike/Walk - These events benefit various local organizations (The Rescue Mission, Habitat For Humanity, etc.) For these runs we promote free of charge in advance of the event to help drive registration and help them raise money for their program.

Boilermaker- This is the largest 15k road race in the country. For the Boilermaker we have in the past and plan in the future to continue live coverage from the start and finish as well as a post race wrap-up. This community event is unique in that many people cannot attend the race and it is of great regional interest.

The Utica Roadrunners "The Falling Leaves Road Race"- We promote most of their events and doing a wrap-up of their signature event. This large, active group of runners is an integral part of every charity run and benefit in the area. Sounds Of The Season- We broadcast local chorus', choirs, bands, and musicians a forum to perform holiday songs and carols during the Christmas Holiday Weekend.

The Joe Kelly Show- The Joe Kelly Show is a weekly program covering topics of local public interest. Subjects include The , Local History, Local Authors, Local Organizations, Focus is on community development and charitable causes.

Mohawk Valley Seniors- This is one of the longest running shows dedicated to issues facing seniors in the Mohawk valley. It started in 1971 as "Close-Up On Aging" and Within the last few years was renamed "Mohawk Valley Seniors". This show tackles issues such as Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, health and wellness, with legislators, health professionals, local community leaders as guests. The show airs weekly and is produced as 26 episodes annually.

The Utica Curling Open - This is one of the countries largest curling events. Our promotion efforts have driven regional support and awareness. The Utica Curling Club is a not-for-profit organization with focus on youth and adult sports programs.

Rome Business &. Professional Women's Candidate Forums - 2003 and 2004 we have produced two candidate forums to air on WFXV. These 90 minute specials are produced in conjunction with Rome Free Academy and the Onieda BOCES vocational training program to give the community access to the candidates views and to prOVide an educational experience to the students enrolled in this high school level program.

Rome Area Chamber of Commerce - Shop Rome First program is a series of free Public Service Announcements asking viewers to Shop Rome First, an area hard hit by recent job losses and with a poor retail climate leading to a severely overstressed tax base. We are the only media partners with this organization encouraging growth in that portion of our coverage area.

Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce - We provide a free infoline service for the Mohawk Valley Chamber to use for weekly messaging on business and community affairs for members and non­ members. This is promoted on-air with a series of :10 and :20 seocnd PSAs.

Local ALS Foundation - Broadcast Public Service Announcements that promote fund raising for the organization.

Angels With Heart Foundation - Aired Public Service announcement to get viewers to attend a fund raising event at Rome Free Academy with the Penn State Marching Band.

Public Service Campaigns- The stations get involved with local charities and organizations frequently adding to these annual events with on-going "Making a Difference" Public Service Campaigns. 52 weeks a year we air 20+ PSAs on each station to fight drug addiction, teen violence, promote education, raise the level of awareness on prevention of disease and other social issues like discrimination and fair housing.•

MDA Labor Day Telethon- WUTR has been involved with the local charity and organization for several years. This year in 2004 we telecast a joint regional event with Syracuse and CCT's station WIXT. We aired "Making a Difference" Public Service Campaigns for MDA. WYOD Local Activities

Local Programming

"Sunday Live with Jim McNulty" -A weekly thirty minute interview-type program, which focuses on local, state and national politics. The program is hosted by former Scranton Mayor James Barrett McNulty.

WYOU has preempted network and local syndicated programming for coverage ofminor league baseball, college basketball and high school football.. The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons, AAA affiliate ofthe Philadelphia Phillies, the University ofScranton Royals, King's College Monarchs and Wilkes University Colonels have had games broadcast on WYOu.

News stories or series dealing with smoking, health hazards, safety, drinking and driving, domestic abuse, etc.

Emergency Programming

WYOU is responsible for EAS broadcasts and information to Lackawanna County. We broadcast AMBER alerts. We also are very proud ofour "Snowsearch 22" weather­ related school, business and organization closings and information on road closings and detours.

Political Programming

WYOU aired live all local speeches by President Bush and Senator Kerry in their entirety during the presidential campaign of2004. In addition, we carried live local speeches by Vice President Cheney and Senator Edwards.

Political debates - WYOU has broadcast political debates with candidates for U.S. Senate, Pennsylvania Governor, Scranton Mayor and Lackawanna County Commissioner. WYOU news anchors and reporters have moderated debates for Scranton City Council and State Representative District 114. We also provided WYOU News 22 employees as moderators for League ofWomen Voters debates in the primary and general elections.

We broadcast PSAs promoting voting and voter registration.

Civic, Cultural and other Community-Responsive Programming

WYOU provides extensive coverage ofmajor and minor league, college and high school sports. We also produce live segments in advance ofthe two Nascar races at Pocono International Raceway in June and July. We provide live and taped reports from the annual Bloomsburg Fair, a state agricultural fair held in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania every September.

WYOU supports local artists and musicians.

Children's Miracle Network Telethon - The 2004 event raised $1,533,099 for the Janet Weis Children's Hospital at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania.

United Way - The station participates in the annual Day ofCaring, a day set aside to volunteer to paint, clean up, landscape, etc. at area United Way agencies. We also help promote the annual United Way fundraising campaign and contribute as a station and employees.

Board ofDirectors - Station executives sit on the boards ofthe United Way of Lackawanna County, the Lupus Foundation, Te1espond Senior Services and Neighborhood Housing ofScranton.

Education - WYOU has a program called "Dave @ School." Meteorologist Dave Kuharchik visits area schools and teaches the basics ofweather and forecasting.

WYOU Website - Viewers are able to place non-profit community events on our on-air and website listing of area happenings. Viewers are also able to submit online requests for a WYOU personality to speak their group or organization via the WYOU Speakers' Bureau.

WYOU and the Northeast Pennsylvania News Alliance is currently working with our local United Ways to produce and distribute a parent/child resource guide in the spring of 2005. The categories will include recreation and entertainment, school readiness, nutrition, first aid and safety, and parenting. We expect to print 150,000 copies ofa 16 page tabloid-type publication for distribution to United Way member agencies, doctors' offices, etc. WYOU has an open door policy with regard to listening to and responding to viewer complaints and comments---both good and bad. A review ofthese comments reveals a wide spectrum ofviewer notes....from disgruntled NFL fans looking for a game they believe we should be airing, political comments, letters regarding CBS network programming/personnel to personal "thanks" for airing locally chosen/produced programming such as the religious Billy Graham Crusade, our Children's Miracle Network At Geisinger Health Systems and our very popular Scranton St. Patrick's Day Parade. The general manager also is always informed whenever any particular comment or phone call is received with any serious repetition so that he knows the comments and tone ofthe station's viewers.

WYOU telecasting debates when candidates are squaring off for election. The station schedules debates as offered by the Pennsylvania Association ofBroadcasters and the Lackawanna League ofWomen Voters and most recently aired two "Decision 2004: Senatorial Debates" on a tape-delayed basis.

Outside ofthe political realm, WYOU airs locally produced programming throughout the year in our attempt to bring varied local-interest programming to our public. Annually we air our "Scranton St. Patrick's Day Parade, our "WYOU Armed Forces Veterans' Parade" and the "Children's Miracle Network Telethon ofGeisinger Health System."

Local news stories that address viewer needs and problems are varied and include crime, employment, the economy, roads, the environment, drugs, government, health care and the elderly, youth, and family and moral values.
