ITINERARY:

Day 01 f Departure to De Hoop Nature Reserve

Make your way along the or the R44 (Depending on your preferred route) to your Village in the De Hoop Nature Reserve. Arriving in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, settle into your Cottage and enjoy a day at leisure or explore the variety of activities on offer.

Days 01 to 04 f De Hoop Nature Reserve (3 nights)

Situated in the Region, near the Southern Tip of and only three hours from , The De Hoop Nature Reserve is a safe, outdoor destination with almost year- round sunshine. Families, Couples and Children of all ages will relish the freedom to explore the reserve. The endless beach, towering sand dunes, inter tidal rock pools and diverse fauna and flora provide a natural playground for Children and Adults alike. Few other reserves offer a complete an outdoor experience as De Hoop Nature Reserve.

Activities are diverse and guests have the choice on exploring this pristine Reserve. You may decide between various day walks through the rich plains or along the deserted coastline, mountain biking along the many gravel roads, scenic game drives or a fun filled day building sandcastles and lazing on the beach. For a unique experience, snorkel in the many turquoise rock pools.

Not only can you enjoy these outdoor activities as a family, but you can share the memorable experience of land-based whale-watching. During June to November, Southern Right Whales journey along the shoreline of the De Hoop Nature Reserve, declared a World Heritage Site and Marine Protected Area, making this area one of the world's best land- based whale-watching areas.

Guests can enjoy un-spoilt views from the sand dunes as these beautiful mammals calve, blow, breach and belly-flop.

Day 04 f De Hoop Nature Reserve to Plettenberg Bay or

Continuing along the N2, you make your way to the seaside town of Plettenberg Bay. Travel through the scenic Lake District, which includes George, Wilderness and Sedgefield, before by-passing Knysna, known as the Garden Route’s Gem. You may decide to substitute your 2-night stay In Plettenberg Bay to a 2-night stay along the Knysna Lagoon.

Continuing for a further few km’s, you reach Plettenberg Bay. Here, check into your Luxury Ocean View Hotel for your 2-night stay.

Days 04 to 06 f Plettenberg Bay or Knysna (2 nights)

The town of Plettenberg Bay lies almost on the border of the Western and Eastern Cape. Built on the hillside, most of the town is on a steep slope leading down to the sea, which means that regardless of where you find yourself accommodated, you will be treated to spectacular views of the bay and surrounding hills and mountains. Tropical, fun, energetic and family-friendly – Plettenberg Bay and its surrounding area present the ultimate family holiday destination along the Garden Route. Not only does Plettenberg Bay have a surprising variety of activities for kids of all ages, but this coastal town is home to not one, but 6 international Blue Flag beaches, some of the most pristine in .

With Knysna only a 30-minute drive from Plettenberg Bay, you can enjoy the best of both during your Garden Route Stay. Knysna is set on the shores of the beautiful Knysna lagoon and surrounded by the Knysna Forest. Knysna can be enjoyed by exploring the many quirky and crafty shops, cruising along the lagoon or having a gourmet meal at one of the many restaurants.

Suggested Activities | Ocean Safaris in Plettenberg Bay

Treat your family to a memorable ocean safari and enjoy the spectacular marine life along Plettenberg Bay's coastline. This eco adventure leaves from Central Beach in Plettenberg Bay with an exciting beach launch and heads east past the bird sanctuary and Keurbooms beach to Arch Rock.

Here they usually encounter Bottlenose and the rare Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphins as well as some shark species. Cruising back along the inside of Robberg, you can observe the growing Cape Fur Seal Colony. Finally, head back along the Robberg beach, passing the original Whaling Station, the experience ends with an exhilarating landing, again on Central Beach. The Crags Wildlife Encounter

Bring awareness to our youth with Plettenberg Bay's awe-inspiring sanctuaries. Unique sanctuaries surrounding Plettenberg Bay, all combining conservation, rehabilitation and hope, will allow your family to enjoy a day filled with fun, education and animals!

Take flight while admiring the 3,500 bird species at Birds of Eden, enjoy a monkey safari as you enter Monkeyland, the world’s largest free- roaming primate sanctuary, where previously caged primates can live in dignity or enjoy a "pawsome" experience at Jukani, a sustainable wildlife sanctuary that has rehomed and rescued many predators, from lions, pumas, tigers, wild dogs and jaguars. Jukani has a strictly no touch policy and these beautiful predators are admired during a educational guided walk through the sanctuary. Knysna Experiences

For a family lunch with a difference, join the John Benn, a double-decker floating restaurant offering daily lagoon cruises to Knysna Heads. Alternatively, try a lunch or dinner cruise aboard the Paddle Cruiser, South Africa’s only paddle-driven vessel. For a fun day trip, catch the ferry across the lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve, a spectacular Natural Heritage Site. Go on a walk through the reserve, followed by a picnic under milkwood trees. If you are lucky, you might even spot the elusive, brightly coloured Knysna Loeries!

Day 06 f Plettenberg Bay or Knysna to Lalibela Game Reserve

Enjoy breakfast overlooking the Robberg Peninsula before departing to your Big Five Game Reserve, located in the Eastern Cape and only one hour from . Upon arrival at Lalibela Game Reserve, you are met at reception and transferred to your lodge within the reserve. Your vehicle will be safely parked during your safari.

Settle into your Suite and enjoy a light snack before departing on your afternoon game drive.

Days 06 to 09 f Lalibela Game Reserve (3 nights)

Lalibela is a conservation project in the heart of Eastern Cape game country that currently consists of 10,500 hectares and is home to the Big 5 (lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo & leopard) as well as other predators like cheetah, hyena, jackal & lynx.

Unique to our area of South Africa, we are blessed with vast areas Savannah Grassland, the biome that has by far the highest carrying capacity – this means that we are able to sustain truly vast herds of plains game like zebra, impala, wildebeest, red hartebeest, blesbuck and eland. This, in turn, allows us to sustain a remarkable density of free-roaming lions.

Included Activities | Daily Safari Programme at Lalibela Game Reserve Upon arrival at Lalibela Game Reserve you are transferred from reception to your lodge, where you are given a welcome drink and your safari experience will be explained to you by your lodge host. There will be time to settle in before lunch followed by your first game drive.

Game drives take place in the early morning and evening to ensure game viewing when animals are most active. Night game drives provide a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the predators. You return to your lodge in time for a sumptuous safari cuisine dinner.

The next day after a light snack you are taken on a morning game drive. You return to the lodge for a grand brunch. Then there is time to relax around the sunny pool, do some bird- watching from the observation deck or read a book in the peace of your room’s private veranda. You set off on another evening game drive, returning in time for dinner.

On your day of departure, you will do a morning game drive before leaving.

Lalibela Game Reserve is known for their exceptional Children's Programme, ensuring the whole family has a memorable safari. Children between 2 and 7 years old can enjoy a children's game drive, while children 8 years and older may join on the adult’s game drive. Children under 2 are not permitted on game drives for their own safety but not to worry, a variety of fun activities are available for the little explorers. Activities for all the young explorers include rhino t-shirt painting, designing their own African mask, making photo frames and a range of other fun and creative activities to enjoy.

Day 09 f Lalibela Game Reserve to Oudtshoorn (1 night)

Your morning starts as dawn breaks, enjoy your final morning game drive and a grand brunch prior to your departure. You may decide to journey along the Langkloof Pass or via the N2 to your Guest Cottage located on the outskirts of Oudtshoorn.

Oudtshoorn, known as the worlds Ostrich Capital, is situated on the edge of the Garden Route between the Outeniqua and Swartberg Mountain Passes. Oudtshoorn is also a wonderful exciting halfway stopover when traveling between Lalibela Game Reserve and Cape Town, with the coastal town of George about 56 km's away.

Oudtshoorn is the ostrich capital of the world. The world’s biggest bird is just one of the many attractions in this area of exceptional contrasts and natural beauty. The region is home to the spectacular Cango Caves, The Cango Wildlife Ranch, Wilgewandel Holiday Farm, The Cango Caves Zipline and a variety of gourmet and farm-style restaurants.

Day 10 f Oudtshoorn & Departure
