SAN FRANCISCO - The Pac-12 Championships )85th annual for men, 29th annual for women) con- tinues this weekend with the running and feld events in Los Angeles on the campus of UCLA. The competition begins Saturday, May 16 and concludes on Sunday, May 17. UCLA is hosting the championships for the frst time since 2005 !and the fourth time since 1981. Tickets for the Pac-12 Championships are available through the UCLA Central Ticket Offce. Orders may be placed at www.uclabruins.com or by calling the ticket offce at (310) UCLA-WIN or (310) 825-2101. The Central Ticket Offce will be open Monday, May 11-Friday, May 15. Those wishing to purchase tickets beginning on Saturday, May 16 will need to do so at Drake Stadium. The ticket windows at Drake Stadium will open 90 minutes prior to the start of the competi- !tion. ARIZONA’s Pau Tonnessen maintained yesterday’s lead to claim the decathlon crown at the Pac-12 Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Championships on Sunday at Drake Stadium on the campus of UCLA. Meanwhile, WASHINGTON STATE’s Alissa Brooks-Johnson came from behind to win the heptathlon crown. Tonnessen scored 7,823 points, while Brooks-Johnson collected 5,803 points to claim the individual titles. A sophomore, Brooks- Johnson fought her way to the top by day’s end, defeating ninth-ranked Tatum Souza of UCLA (5,636), who had the lead going into today’s action, and USC sophomore Amalie Iuel (5,610), who was the defending champion. OREGON freshman Ashlee Moore was fourth in the heptathlon with 5,512 points and Torres rounded out the top-fve with 5,455 !points. The top two spots in the decathlon standings did not change with Tonnessen staying ahead of STANFORD freshman Harrison Williams to claim the title, the ffth all-time for the Wildcats. Tonnessen, ranked No. 3 in the country, led a strong feld which featured six of the top-15 decathletes in the country, including four in the top 10. Williams scored 7,679 points to place second, followed by UCLA’s Marcus Nilsson (7,663), OREGON’s Mitch Modin (7,417) and WSU’s Dino Dodig (7,416) who came in ffth place. Tonnessen’s win was an upset as UO’s Dakota Keys, who went into the !weekend ranked No. 2, was going for his fourth-straight Pac-12 individual title. !THE RANKINGS... The Pac-12 Track & Field Championships have featured many of the nation’s top-collegiate teams and athletes on an annual basis. And this season is not any different. Four different athletes have posted the nation’s top times or marks, including the top sprinters on both the men’s and women’s side. OREGON’s and USC’s Andre De Grasse have recorded the fastest times in the 100 and 200 meters this season, which are also some of the fastest times in Pac-12 history. Prandini’s 10.92 in the 100 meters is a Conference record and the 22.42 she ran in the 200 meters is a top-three performance. De Grasse’s 9.87 in the 100 meters would have been a league record if it was !wind legal, and his 20.16 clocked in the 200 meters is third-best all-time. STANFORD’s Jessica Tonn ran 15:18.85 in the 5000 meters this year, which is the second-fastest time in the event in Pac-12 history. USC’s Conor McCullough threw a 248-11/75.88m in the , tops in the nation and fourth- !best in league history. BOWERMAN UPDATE... OREGON’s Jenna Prandini is one of 10 women on the latest Bowerman Watch List, which was announced on May 6. On the men’s side, Prandini’s teammates Edward Cheserek and Eric Jenkins, and USC’s Conor McCullough are on the men’s watch list. The OREGON men’s and women’s track and feld teams swept the Pac- 12 Men’s and Women’s Track & Field Championships that were held at Mooberry Track & Field Complex on the cam- pus of Washington State. The men’s squad claimed its eighth-consecutive title tallying 163.25 points, while the women collected 176 points for frst place. Individual recognition also when to UO’s Jenna Prandini who accounted for 32 points and earned Women’s Athlete of the Meet. USC’s Aaron Brown was the Men’s Athlete of the Meet after collecting 22.50 points. Prandini won three individual titles, claiming the , 100-meter and 200-meter titles. She be- comes only the fourth woman in Conference history to win at least three titles in one meet and the frst since Seilala Sue of UCLA achieved the feat in 1999. Brown claimed the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints, also running the second !leg of the 4x100-meter relay team to help the Trojans place frst in the event. On the men’s side, OREGON held a substantial lead by the end of the meet as USC placed second with 99 points. ARIZONA was third with 83 points and ARIZONA STATE was fourth with 80.75 points. WASHINGTON fnished ffth (75.25), STANFORD was sixth (71), UCLA was seventh (68.25) and CALIFORNIA was eighth (67). In ninth place with !66.50 points was host-WASHINGTON STATE and COLORADO had 44 points. On the women’s side, OREGON held the lead after the frst day and never looked back, staying ahead of second-place USC, who scored 145 points. STANFORD and ARIZONA STATE tied for third with 75 points each, ARIZONA was just one point behind for ffth place and UCLA’s 68 points were good for sixth. WASHINGTON had 53 points for seventh, WASHINGTON STATE collected 46.50 points for eighth and CALIFORNIA had 44.50 points for ninth place.
