Message from Inspector Teresa Futter Welcome to this month’s newsletter for , , , , , Skeyton, Suffield, , , , Westwick and . Our aim is to ensure you receive regular updates on crime levels along with relevant news and crime prevention advice. We will inform you of any opportunities to meet the local policing team and encourage you to advertise these within your parish newsletters and magazines. Working together ensures the police understand the issues and concerns that matter to the public helping us to keep one of the safest places to live in the country.

Crime Updates (1st - 30th June)

Offence Numbers What could this entail

Arson 1 Damage caused as a result of fire. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Harassment, alarm or distress is caused in a non-crime incident. 9 Bicycle Theft From a public place, if stolen form a shed or garage this would be a Burglary 1 Residential. Burglary - Business and Community Entry and theft to any building or structure not within the curtilage/ boundary 1 of a residence. Burglary - Residential 3 Entry and theft to any building within the curtilage/boundary of a residence. Criminal Damage A person destroys or damages property belonging to someone else. 7 Domestic Domestic incidents where a crime has not occurred. Parties are aged 16 or 14 over and have been intimate partners or family members regardless of sexuality. Hate Incident Any incident where a crime has not occurred which the victim, or anyone 0 else, thinks is based on someone’s prejudice towards them because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or because they are transgender.

Race or Religious aggravated public fear Any crime determined to have a hate element as per above. 1 Possession of controlled substance Unlawful possession of a drug classified in class A, B or C. 2

Possession of weapons 0 Unlawful possession of an article used as a weapon. Public fear, alarm or distress Public order offences e.g. from a verbal altercation to offences just short of 8 violence. Robbery Includes a range of offences where force is used, threatened or the victim is 0 put in fear. Theft from a motor vehicle Any item stolen that was in, on or attached to a motor vehicle. 7 Theft or unauthorised taking of a motor Any motor vehicle including those abandoned. 2 vehicle Theft from a person Purse being taken from a handbag, or a mobile phone from a 0 shopping basket. North Norfolk Police and Norfolk Trading Standards are warning residents to be on their guard against cold callers. Individuals are cold calling by phone or on the doorstep across attempting to sell artwork, various domestic items or offering to do unnecessary work at an excessive price. Police have been taking positive action and if callers are found not to be in possession of a Pedlar’s Certificate those responsible are interviewed, reported to court and all their items seized. Police are advising the public to call the police on 101 should a cold caller visit them and make any elderly or vulnerable relatives and neighbours aware. Trading standards advise that those who need work done should visit the Norfolk Trusted Trader website: www.norfolk.gov.uk/trustedtrader.

Public Engagement meeting for North Walsham and surrounding villages 7:00pm on Wednesday 9th August 2017 at The Atrium, Spencer Avenue, North Walsham. Why not come along and have your say? After the meeting the Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel will discuss and decide the priorities for all partners to act upon for the next three months. The adopted priorities will be published on the Norfolk Constabulary website, via Police Connect and Social Media.

The following priorities were agreed at the Safer Neighbourhood Action Panel Meeting held at The Atrium, North Walsham on Wednesday 10th May 2017: 1. Speeding and Vehicle Nuisance on Road, North Walsham. 2. ASB/ Criminal Damage at (around the skate park and sea front).
