EPCOT For Kids We won't be going to ...there's nothing there for the kids."

This tip sheet has some great ideas to show that in fact, EPCOT IS FOR KIDS !!!

When Epcot opened in 1982, it really wasn't very kid-friendly. Most of what is now Future World was very, let's say, scientific. And the World Showcase offerings were pretty slim, too. Over the years, the Imagineers at Disney have been working quite successfully to add attractions that are more Kid Friendly. Unfortunately, Epcot has had a difficult time shedding that image of so long ago. Let me help a little bit, as I believe that everyone needs to know that Epcot is VERY kid friendly......

Kid-Friendly Things To Do

The Rides. Not your mainstream "amusement park" rides, the attractions at Epcot are unique, fun, and can take your breath away. Imagine gliding over the mountains of California, or the dessert, or the surf. Our favorite attraction is Soarin', an exhilarating scenic view of the best of Earth’s beauty from a simulated hang glider. is another of our favorites. Design your own vehicle, and then put it to the test. End your ride with a 60+ MPH trip around the track. Weeeeee. For a more calmer journey, ride through the seas with The Seas With Nemo and Friends. Afterwards, make sure you hang out with . Kids get to hold a real conversation with Crush from Finding Nemo. See a real aquarium with your favorite Finding Nemo characters swimming right along. There are plenty of fun attractions that we haven't even mentioned here. Sail through the greenhouses Living With and behold 9-pound lemons, Mickey-shaped pumpkins and more! Figment the playful, purple dragon is your guide on this whimsical tour of Journey Into Imagination. Little ones will love learning and laughing about the 5 senses—sound, sight, smell, touch and taste—on this madcap musical trip

2. Sum of All Thrills. Here, kids (and adults) get to create their own roller coaster on a computer, and then the ride comes to life as they get to ride their very own creation in a roller coaster simulator.

3. Fun. If your kids are a fan of the movie “Frozen”, then they will just love the Norway pavilion in World Showcase. Here, your kiddos will get an opportunity to meet & , as well as take a ride through the beautiful village of Arendelle on the new attraction “Frozen Ever After”. This new ride is a boat voyage featuring new and amazing animatronic technology….and your favorite Frozen songs.

4. Phineas & Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure is an interactive game where kids can now get their own F.O.N.E., (Field Operative Notifications Equipment) that use state of the art technology to help find Agent P who will give them clues to stop mad scientist Dr. Doofenshmirtz's (Doofs) evil plans. Each "scene" is located in a country in the World Showcase, so the kids are now seeing these countries in a whole new way. A very entertaining attraction for the kids. I know many of you have heard that the World Showcase is snoozeville for the kids. Well....no more.

5. Dining Options vary for the kids, too. From fun themed restaurants such as Biergarten in Germany (reminiscent of a German village, complete with an Oom-pah band and other entertainment), to fine dining, there is enough to keep the youngest of kids enthused. Character dinners are plentiful, too with Mickey and friends at Garden Grill. One of my favorite dining experiences in all of is the Princess Storybook meal at the Royal Banquet Hall in Norway. If you kids are into princesses in the slightest way, then this is a "can't miss". Imagine having a meal and being visited by Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Mulan or Mary Poppins. If your little girl is in her princess outfit, a special "fuss" will be made over her, I can assure you. Other than the beaming smiles on the kids' faces, I especially like that this experience is still only one table service credit on the Disney dining plan.

6. KidCot Fun Stop is another great idea to keep the kids excited at. With 14 locations, KidCot areas are places where kids can take a break and enjoy drawing, stamping, writing and much more. Our favorites are the locations in the various countries where the kids are led by a native of that country. Kids can also complete a Passport at each location. See if you can fill your book for a special souvenir.

7. Illuminations. Each night, Epcot ends the day with a performance of Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. This show tells a story of hope for humanity using music, lasers, fountains, and fireworks. Taking place in the World Showcase Lagoon, this performance can be viewed from most locations around the lagoon. Arrive at least 30 minutes early for good viewing spots.

8. Character Spot. Characters are popular with the little ones, and the Character Spot is the place to meet the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse. He is here along with Minnie Mouse and Goofy. Fastpass+ reservations are available for the main Character Spot location with Mickey and friends. Across the plaza, you’ll find another Character Spot location with current film characters – currently, Baymax from “Big Hero 6”, as well as Joy and Sadness from “Inside Out”. Other characters are in the park as well. Throughout World Showcase, you’ll meet other favorites like Donald Duck in Mexico, Mary Poppins in the United Kingdom, and Mulan in China. Use your My Disney Experience app to find the location of your favorite characters.

9. World Showcase. Many parents see World Showcase as an adult location, but in addition to KidCot that I mentioned earlier, there are other fun attractions that the kids will enjoy as well. Take a scenic boat ride through Mexico, hosted by The Three Caballeros, including Donald Duck himself. Lots of fun street entertainment will surely capture the interest of the kids. And don’t forget to visit the rotunda of the American Adventure Theater to hear the beautiful sounds of The Voices of Liberty.

As you can see, Epcot has come a long way in making sure that kids of all ages have a great stay.

I have built many of these fun activities and attractions into your daily itinerary. Have fun at Epcot...and bring the kids with smiles on their faces !!!
