Saving our pavements
One of the most common methods of pavement surfacing is pavement slurry, which is currently being carried out across Surrey. This is a low cost measure designed to seal the surface and extend the life of a pavement that is structurally sound.
It involves laying a thin layer of bitumen and aggregate on the existing pavement. It stops water getting in meaning it won’t disintegrate as much and everyone gets a great, new surface to walk on. When the base of a pavement is not strong enough for pavement slurry, we may need to dig it up, rebuild the base and then resurface it which is a much bigger and costly process.
