“IN YOU, LORD, I HAVE FOUND MY PEACE”

Today, in the Responsorial Psalm, we hear the words of humble trust in God found in Psalm 131. “In you, Lord, I have found my peace.” Psalm 131 is a song composed by King and used over the centuries by pilgrims travelling up to the Temple of Jerusalem. The theme of the psalm is one of giving up self-sufficiency and growing in reliance on the providential care of God. Like a babe resting in the lap of their mother, so our souls finds rest in the Lord. Our relationship to the Lord both strengthens the divine gift of hope and our sense of inner peace. These are free gifts that God offers to each of us, as beloved and blessed children. God, who abundantly blesses each of us, invites us to generosity of spirit. Generosity is the spiritual response to the gift of hope. May we always hope in the Lord God, our rock of salvation, both now and forever. For in the Lord God we find true peace. May God – Father, Son, Holy Spirit – abundantly bless you and your families in this coming week! In Christ, Fr. Ted Prentice Pastor
