TITLE Introspect 1 (diptych), 2017

MEDIUM Acrylic on wood

DIMENSIONS 48” x 73½”

BIOGRAPHY Upon graduating from State University with a BFA in Textile Art, Diane Tate DallasKidd traveled to Japan to study under Tsuyoshi Kuno, a fourth generation dyer. Mr. Kuno and his studio use traditional techniques in inventive ways to create cutting-edge textiles for high-end fashion designers. Having the opportunity to work alongside artisans with an experimental slant and dedication to process informed much of DallasKidd’s approach. DallasKidd is continually motivated to draw something new and unexpected from the medium at hand, folding paper to delineate planes of space in her paintings on wood, painting singular threads and suspending them to create ethereal forms. She often begins her exploration with a feeling more so than a fixed outcome in mind. Her resulting works are textural and dimensional, echoing patterns and shapes found in the natural and urban landscape. DallasKidd lives and works in San Francisco.

TITLE Between You and Me 1, 2017

MEDIUM Oil on canvas mounted on panel

DIMENSIONS 48” x 48”

BIOGRAPHY Born in Quebec, Canada, Paule Dubois Dupuis lived much of her life in Ottawa and Montreal before moving to San Francisco in 1999. As a student, she couldn’t tolerate the classroom unless she was drawing or painting or, occasionally, writing a theatrical script. She started in her professional life as an autodidact, eventually even teaching others her watercolor methods. Dupuis largely abandoned that medium after feeling too constrained by the paper size. At the age of 36 she returned to college to complete her BFA. After graduating magna cum laude from Ottawa University, her family moved to , where she was able to study at the San Francisco Art Institute. The population is denser in San Francisco than it was in Quebec, but the sun and water are her refuge and she paints in oil now to give her mind and body an outlet for stress, passion, love and sadness.

Her methodology incorporates layers of resin, paint and acrylic forms that create texture and depth within the dialogue of her work. Lucky’s approach is process-oriented and physical. The end result combines inquisitive statements that play with both language and the potency of graphical communication, while the three-dimensional nature of the layered resin fosters a sculptural reflective quality. TITLE My Map, 2010

MEDIUM Found paper, acrylic and graphite on panel

DIMENSIONS 60” x 45”

BIOGRAPHY Jon Wessel eared a B.S. in Psychology from the University of California, Berkeley. He left a doctoral program in Environmental Studies at Penn State University to pursue formal art training in the Bay Area at the Academy of Art University and the Computer Arts Institute. He has exhibited both locally and internationally. Currently, his work is exhibited through two online galleries, Daylighted and Artly Owl. Living and working in San Francisco, Wessel’s observations of the constantly changing urban environment led him to recognize a rich material resource in the paper ads pasted on walls and fences around the city. In the mold of decollage artists like Jacques Villegle, Wessel was inspired by the random, accidental compositions formed by the archeological layers of text and imagery in these layered materials.
