University of California, Santa Barbara Department of Open Level Professorship in Experimental Assistant Professorship in Experimental The Department of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, is seeking candidates for two new appointments in experimental physics, to start in the Fall of 2008. One opening is in experimental biological or soft condensed matter physics, and is open to applicants at all levels, ranging from tenure-track assistant professor to full professor. The second opening is in experimental condensed matter physics, and is open to applicants at the tenure-track assistant professor level. The UCSB Physics Department has strong on-going research programs in experimental and theoretical biophysics and condensed matter physics. There is extensive cross disciplinary work with colleagues in the College of , Biological Sciences, and Chemistry, which are enhanced by the presence of a new state-of-the-art microfabrication cleanroom facility, the Materials Research Laboratory (MRL), the Institute for Quantum and Complex Dynamics (iQCD), the Center for Polymers and Organic Solids, the Kavli Institute for (KITP), and the California Nanosystems Institute (CNSI).

Candidates for either position are expected to have a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field, have a demonstrated strong background in experimental science, and be able to teach a range of courses in Physics.
