1.1 CONTEXT AND PURPOSE

Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) currently operates under Controlled Action EPBC 2010/5696 Cloudbreak Mine Expansion (EPBC 2010/5696) at its Cloudbreak Iron Ore Mine in the , Western Australia. Condition 11 of EPBC 2010/5696 requires Fortescue to undertake the following:

“Within three months of the date of this approval, the person taking the action must establish and maintain an EPBC Act listed species register on the person taking the action’s website that includes the recording and reporting of any sightings of EPBC Act listed species, alive or dead, within the boundaries of the project area. The register must be updated every six months during the operational life of the mine. The person taking the action must ensure that the reporting of any sightings of EPBC Act listed species, alive or dead, in the project area are recorded in the register.”

This Register has been generated to meet the requirements of condition 11 of EPBC 2010/5696.

1.2 CHANGES TO THE CONSERVATION SIGNIFICANT FAUNA LIST

1.2.1 Wildlife Conservation Act 1950 and the Environment Protection Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999

The following section details changes to the Conservation Significant Fauna List used by Fortescue to meet the reporting requirements, following publication of the Wildlife Conservation (Specially Protected Fauna) Notice, and amendment to EPBC Listed Species.

The changes made to the Conservation Significant Fauna List are outlined in Table 1, 2 and 3.

1.2.2 Conservation Significant Fauna Management Plan

Fortescue is required to develop management and monitoring measures that maximise the ongoing protection and long term conservation of conservation significant fauna species. These management and monitoring measures are outlined in the Conservation Significant Fauna Management Plan (100-PL-EN-0022).

Revisions to the Conservation Significant Fauna Management Plan (100-PL-EN-0022) resulted in a change to the definition of conservation significant fauna. The revised plan was approved by the:

• Office of the Environmental Protection Authority on 21 September 2014 (100-EN- 0441.03)

• Department of the Environment on 17 April 2015 (100-EN-0492.05)

The approval of the Conservation Significant Fauna Management Plan resulted in changes to the Conservation Significant Fauna List used by Fortescue to meet the reporting requirements specified under condition 11 of EPBC 2010/5696.

The changes made to the Conservation Significant Fauna List are outlined in Table 4.
