1 What Have We Been Up To?

The team have been out and about conducting patrols in public areas to prevent theft from motor vehicles.

GOOD NEWS

Police received a report of a dog bite in Cawston Woods. The owner of the dog that attacked a walker has been spoken to and issued with a Police Community Protection Warning Notice – to keep the dog muzzled whilst out walking in public.

This section looks at the crimes of public interest that have occurred on the Rugby Rural South Safer Neighbourhood Team policing area. Below is a brief summary of some of the incidents that have been reported to us over the last month:

BURGLARY : Inc 182-24.12.2017 Birdingbury Road, Hill. Between 19/12/2017 23:00 and 20/12/2017 09:00 Offender (s) unknown have entered an insecure wooden shed and have stolen an Ifor Williams 2 wheeled trailer which was secured with bar and lock bearing.

Inc 228-06.12.2017 Dunchurch Park Hotel, Rugby Road, Dunchurch, Between 05/12/2017 18:00 and 05/12/2017 23:00 unknown offender has entered room via window forcing open safety catches and climbing in. Once inside suspect has removed car key from victim’s key ring and has left room by unknown means. Suspect has then taken victims vehicle and left in an unknown direction of travel.

Inc 445-08.12.2017 Sandford Way, Dunchurch, Rugby Between 08/12/2017 17:30 and 08/12/2017 18:00 unknown offender(s) have entered the rear garden via the side gate, offender(s) appear to have attempted to force the lock on the rear patio door causing damage having failed to gain access by this method they have smashed a large double glazed patio door window and believed to have climbed in via the smashed window. Offenders once inside have carried out an untidy search and stolen various items.

2 Between16/12/2017 14:00 to 16/12/2017 19:50 Offender(s) have entered an insecure property, offenders made an untidy search of the address. Various items stolen.

Inc 352-16.12.2017 Weston Close, Dunchurch, Rugby At approximately 1735hrs on Saturday 16/12/2017, unknown persons have entered the rear, garden of house. An implement has been used to smash the glass in the French door in order to gain entry. The house was unoccupied and void of any furniture and property. Offenders have then left the premises the same way without stealing anything.

Inc 345-16.12.2017 Weston Close, Dunchurch, Rugby At 16/12/2017 17:00 3 male have gone to rear of the property and gained entry via a UPVC door, once inside the offenders have been disturbed by occupants who arrived home, nothing was stolen.

Inc 106-29.12.2017 Moor Farm Close, Stretton on Dunsmore, Rugby Between 22/12/2017 09:00 to 29/12/2017 11:30 unknown person has accessed a garden and used unknown instrument, to force ground floor UPVC window. Offender has conducted a search of bedrooms, nothing stolen.

Inc 93-29.12.2017 Moor Farm Close, Stretton on Dunsmore, Rugby Between 23/12/2017 09:00 to 29/12/2017 10:46 On 10/12/2017 unknown offender(s) have force entry to a house through a ground floor window they carried out an untidy search of bedrooms and living room. Unknown at this stage what property stolen. VEHICLE CRIME:

Inc 404-09.12.2017 Hill Crescent, Stretton on Dunsmore, Rugby Between 08/12/2017 18:00 to 09/12/2017 21:00 victim has parked his vehicle a Ford Transit on the road unknown offender(s) have by unknown means stolen the vehicle.

Inc 413-23.12.2017 Brookside, Stretton on Dunsmore, Rugby Between 23/12/2017 17:15 to 23/12/2017 18:30 offender(s) have removed, and stolen, the front and rear registration plates from a vehicle.

Inc 186 -05.12.2017 London Road, Thurlaston, Between 02/12/2017 14:00 to 05/12/2017 12:00 unknown offenders have cut off chain securing perimeter fence by unknown means

Inc 225-05.12.2017 Brookside, Stretton on Dunsmore, Rugby Between 20/11/2017 05:00 to 04/12/2017 05:30 unknown offender(s) have ripped the sensor off a security light.

THEFT: Inc 104-14.12.2017 Rugby Lane, Stretton on Dunsmore, Rugby, Between 14/12/2017 10:00 to 14/12/2017 11:00 unknown offender has attended victims home address and stole mail from the box.

Inc 268-20.12.2017 , Kites Hardwick, Rugby Between 20/12/2017 11:00 to 20/12/2017 15:00 offender(s) have stolen 2 unattended chainsaws from rural location.

Inc 213-24.12.2017 Travelodge Hotels Ltd, London Road, Thurlaston, Rugby At approximately 05:04 on 24/12/2017 unknown offender(s) have, using a hotel key card to gained access to a hotel room and stolen a TV.

What is CSE?

Child sexual exploitation (CSE) is a type of child abuse. It happens when a Young person is encouraged, or forced, to take part in sexual activity in exchange for something. The reward might be presents, money, alcohol, or Simply just the promise of love and affection.

It might seem like a normal friendship or relationship at the beginning, but the young person might be persuaded to do sexual things they don't want to do in return for something.

The government definition is:

Child sexual exploitation is a form of child sexual abuse. It occurs where anindividual or group takes advantage of an imbalance of power to coerce, manipulate or deceive a child or young person under the age of 18 into sexual activity (a) in exchange for something the victim needs or wants, and /or (b) for the finacial advantager or increased status of the perpetratoror facilitator. The victim may have been sexually exploited even if the sexual activity appears consensual. Child sexual exploitation does not always involve physical contact; it can also occure through the use of technology.

Abusers can be very clever in the way they manipulate young people.

Advice on cyberbullying and online harassment Cyberbullying and online harassment can be extremely distressing. It can be classed as a criminal offence but there is lots of help available to support you.

Tips to stay safe online

Think before you post - when posting or commenting on the internet, consider what you say and what effect this may have. Never post comments that are abusive or may cause distress to others.

Keep personal information personal - avoid saying things or publishing pictures that might later cause you or someone else embarrassment. Be aware of what friends post about you, or how they reply to your posts, particularly about your personal details and activities.

Make the most of privacy settings - keep your profiles closed, allowing access only to your chosen friends and family.

Report cyberbullying to internet service providers - lots of content on social media that is offensive or upsetting is not necessarily a criminal offence. However, cyberbullying often violates the terms and conditions established by social media sites and internet service providers. Report cyberbullying to the social media site so they can take action against users abusing the terms of service.

Social media help sections can show you how to block users and change settings to control who can contact you. You can get advice and support on using the following social media sites, including the ability to report content to them.
