This patient responded well to acupuncture treatment as it was the only new treatment administered after many months of worsening ambulation and a suddenly non ambulatory worsening condition. This patient did not walk normally after 6 treatments but has had marked improvement and the owner is very satisfied. We will continue monthly to every other month treatments and assess the patient’s overall well being from an integrated Eastern and Western standpoint.

Resolution of clinical signs was deemed subjectively to occur faster with this combined approach than with conventional western medicine alone. 28 THE POINT A PUBLICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL VETERINARY ACUPUNCTURE SOCIETY VOL.35 / NO. 4 November 2012 Laser Acupuncture in Infectious Diseases and Wound Infections Including MRSA Infections Uwe Petermann, DVM Abstract Pulse Controlled Laser Acupuncture (PCLAC) is the combination of two very effective treatments each for its own, acupuncture and Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT). Laser Acupuncture will be described as an alternative treatment of all kinds of diseases arising from infectious germs. These are infectious diseases of organs like tonsillitis, acute bronchitis, pneumonia, kidneys, bladder and intestinal infections. Also any tissue infection deriving from injuries or post-operation including phlegmons (cellulitis infections), as well as joint and tendon sheath infections can be positively influenced or healed by laser acupuncture treatment. If there is enough experience in laser acupuncture with patients like these, all these diseases can be treated without antibiotics. This is from a very special interest in cases of MRSA infections, when antibiotic treatment has no effects. Introduction Yang meridians of the hindlimb and CV 3 for the Yin Acupuncture. 30 THE POINT A PUBLICATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL VETERINARY ACUPUNCTURE SOCIETY VOL.35 / NO. 4 November 2012 truthfully that I didn’t treat MRSA infections before, but many other antibiotics resistant infections have successfully been treated.

The infection had started 4 months previously when the dog was presented to the veterinary hospital because of a small wound unclear in origin. The wound was cleaned and treated with antibiotics.

Despite the therapy, the wound swelling increased rapidly, showed suppurative fistulation and pain. A tissue sample from the infected area was taken for investigation; an MRSA infection was verified by culture and sensitivity. The clinic tried a further therapy with selected combinations of antibiotics that were changed several times. But this also showed no improvement. Swelling, fistulation and pain became worse. As a last resort a wide-scale excision of the Figure 4 diseased tissue was considered which was carried out very carefully. But the wound after a few days, The case of an MRSA infection in a dog shows the showed a dehiscence with massive infection. During the next two days the scar became more and more swollen and showed fluctuation. A big abscess developed and after a further two days 150 Figure 6 ml of pus came out when the abscess opened. 6. Acute infections of organs. Even acute organ infections can be treated by laser acupuncture using the same basic points with additional LLLT. The LLLT of course is more effective in superficial and smaller organs than the bigger organs which are covered deeper in the body. Abstract Some of the more common signs seen in aging dogs include stiff and sore joints, hind end weakness, decreased stamina and failing eyesight and hearing. Other than anti-inflammatories for osteoarthritis, conventional veterinary medicine does not have many drugs to help with what are commonly seen as unavoidable symptoms of a natural process. There are however herbal formula’s that can help re-invigorate older dogs and slow the progression of aging signs. This case report deals with a ten year old Shepherd cross who presented for decreasing energy and mild hind-end weakness. She was being treated intermittently with a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory for pain relief but it has no effect on energy or on her hind end strength and stability. She was started on a Chinese classical formula called Ba Wei Di Huang Wan, or Rehmannia 8, and showed significant improvement after 2 months of treatment. This also is the link between local and non-local causality; changing a pattern in one area (as we often do by generating information- containing pressure waves in water-laden tissue with needle insertion) in theory should be able change the larger pattern of the hologram. While this theory for acupuncture has yet to be completely validated with research, the discovery of the necessary items for creating bio-holographs have been found with the discovery of stable water clusters, the presence of interference patterns, and sound wave and electrical propagation along meridians. And there is certainly enough body of anecdotal proof for local vs non-local needle cause-and-effect that has accumulated over thousands of years.
