BLUE JACKETS NOTES THROUGH 21 Columbus has earned points in 16 of its first 21 games of the season (12-5-4), including points in eight of the last nine contests (6-1-2) and in 13 of the past 15 (10-2-3) following Tuesday’s win over Tampa. The 28 points are tied for the best start in club history through the first 21 games of a season (14-7-0; 2010-11). The 12 victories, meanwhile, are tied for the second most through the first 21 games with the 2009-10 campaign. The five regulation losses are the fewest recorded in the first 21 contests, surpassing the six losses in 2009-10 (11-6-3).

NOVEMBER TO REMEMBER The Jackets went 9-2-3 in the month of November. The nine victories and 21 points are the most in the month in club history, surpassing the 19 points recorded in Nov. 2009 (7-4-3) and the eight wins in Nov. 2010 (8-4-0) and Nov. 2015 (8-5-0). The 21 points, in fact, are tied for the third best singular month in club history (10-1-1 in Dec. 2014), trailing the 24 points recorded in Mar. 2013 (10-2-4) and 22 points in Mar. 2015 (11-4-0).

DECEMBER LOOK After a successful November, the Jackets turn the calendar to December with 14 games. The club plays eight games on the road and six at home. Columbus’ longest homestand of the month is three games (Dec. 20-23) while the team also has a three-game road trip to western Canada (Dec. 13-18). The Blue Jackets will see two back-to-back situations, playing Dec. 9-10 and Dec. 22-23. Last season, the team went 4-7-3 (11 points) while they posted a 10-1-1 record (21 points) in Dec. 2014.

SUCCESS AT HOME The Jackets set a new franchise record with seven-straight wins at home (8-3-1 overall) from Oct. 21-Nov. 18. They had posted two six- game home win streaks (MR: Mar. 24-Apr. 10, 2015). The eight wins are the most in club history while the 17 points are tied for the most (2009-10) through the first 12 home games. The Blue Jackets went 7-1-1 (15 points) at home in November. It’s the second most wins and points in a single month at Nationwide Arena in club history (8-0-2; 18 points in Mar. 2013).

THE ROAD Last Friday’s game in Tampa began a road heavy schedule from Nov. 25-Dec. 18. Tuesday’s rematch vs. the Lightning was the only home game during a five-game stretch (Nov. 25-Dec. 3) and just one of three of 11 games to be played at Nationwide Arena. The road schedule includes stops in Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Michigan and western Canada. The club is riding a three-game road point streak (2-0-1) and is 3-1-2 in the past seven road contests.

BOTH SIDES OF THE COIN The Jackets are second in the NHL in goals scored per game (3.19), trailing only the NY Rangers (3.67). On the flip side, the club ranks fourth-T in allowing 2.24 goals a game (Washington). San Jose leads the league with a 2.08 goals against average. Through the first 21 games this season, the Blue Jackets boast a +20-goal differential (67-47), the second best differential in the league (NY Rangers at +30). Last season, the team had a -14 goal differential (52-66) through the first 21 contests. Columbus has scored at least three goals in 12 games and allowed two goals or less in 13 contests. OUT OF THE GATES The Jackets have scored the first goal of the game in 15 of their 21 contests (10-2-3). The club has only failed to score first vs. Calgary and at Florida last week, in both games vs. the Capitals (Nov. 15 and 20) as well as both games vs. the Sharks (Oct. 15 and 27). They are third-T (Chicago and Toronto) in the NHL in games scoring first this season, trailing only Washington (17) and Montreal (16).

BOB’S ON THE CASE Leading the way for the Jackets is goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who is 10-2-1 with a 1.96 goals-against average, .931 save percentage, two shutouts and has allowed two goals or less in 10 of his past 13 contests. He is 12-3-2 with a 1.91 goals-against average, .934 save percentage, three shutouts and has allowed two goals or less in 13 of his past 17 games. He is second-T in the NHL in wins (12) and shutouts (three) and ranks sixth-T among netminders who have played at least 10 games with a .930 save percentage.

GROUP EFFORT ON OFFENSE The Jackets boast eight players with 10 or more points already on the campaign. Atkinson (8-12-20) and Wennberg (5-15-20) are 15th- T in the NHL in scoring and 11th-T in points per game (.95 in more than five games played) while Nick Foligno (8-11-19) is 18th-T in PPG (.90). Rookie D Zach Werenski is sixth among all NHL defensemen in points (5-11-16). Brandon Saad (6-11-17) has five multi- point contests to his credit. Sam Gagner (7-5-12) has 7-4-11 in the last 14 games. Scott Hartnell has 5-8-12 in the past 20 games while Josh Anderson reached the mark (7-3-10) with his second three-point effort (1-2-3) of the campaign on Tuesday.
