From Mr. Logan, music teacher: In place of our usual Winter Program, each grade level will come together to be recorded singing a couple of holiday/winter songs. These recordings will be done during L the school day on Dec. 16 and will be shared on Google Classroom and the Eagle Heights PTA Facebook page.

PROPER WINTER DRESS: E Please send your children in appropriate clothing for the season; coats, mittens, hats, and socks. Students should be prepared for outdoor recess. Our general guideline is that we go outside for recess if the wind-chill is 15 or above and it’s not raining. In wet weather it might be a good idea to keep an extra pair of jeans/sweatpants and socks in your student’s locker.

WINTER GUIDELINES: 1) In cold weather students should have their coats zipped, gloves or mittens and a hat on. 2) Students may not kick or throw snow. 3) Students may not slide on the snow or ice. H 4) Students must wear snow pants and boots to play in the snow.

Winter weather is coming!! Please do not call the school to check on school closings!!!!! You should receive a phone message from our Messenger system if we cancel school or have a late start. Here is a list of TV and radio stations that will be contacted. You can also check the news stations on the internet for E school closings. KROS 1340 AM KCQQ 106.5 FM KCLN 1390 AM WOC 1420 AM KMXG 96.1 FM WLLR 103.7 FM I KUUL 101.3 FM WQAD TV 8 (www.wqad.com) KWQC TV 6 (www.kwqc.com) WHBF TV 4 (www.whbf.com)

Late Start Guidelines – If bad weather causes a late start, you will receive a message from our G Messenger service. Here is the plan: School will start at 9:45, buses will pick up students 2 hours later than usual, there will be no Early Riser Program, no breakfast, and students should not be brought to school earlier than 9:15.

Lost and Found: If your child comes home without their coat, jacket, sweatshirt, sweater, hat, gloves, H scarf, etc. have them check the Lost and Found located in the front hallway across from the Gym. Small items, (electronics, jewelry, glasses, etc.) are kept in the office.

Dismissal Instructions – If your child will be going home a different way than usual please call the school office in the morning, or as early as you can and let us know. We will relay the message to the T student and teacher. There are many reasons why messaging or calling the teacher directly may result in the message not being received. Our policy is that if the office hasn’t been notified, the student takes their usual way home.

S From the Counselor – Caretakers, if you are unable to purchase a winter coat, hat, or gloves for your student please contact Mrs. Boeding by calling the school, or emailing [email protected]. These

items will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Thank you!

New Bus Tracking System: The transportation department will be adding a bus tracking app after the new year called “Here Comes the Bus”. The app will allow for parents to have a better idea to verify if their child is on the bus and when their child will be arriving home. More information for parents to download and use this app will be shared by the transportation department. In the meantime, please be aware of the information below.

Communication with the Transportation Department – the Eagle Heights school office closes at 3:30. Any calls or messages will not be heard until the following morning. Please check with the transportation department if the bus your child rides is late arriving home. To check on what may be delaying the bus please call the transportation department at (563) 243-4441. The transportation department will be able to share when you can expect your child to arrive home. If the bus is late picking your child up in the morning, please also call transportation to see why. Eagle Heights will not be able to answer your questions as the school office isn’t contacted about late buses and won’t be able to answer your questions.

From Mr. Boyd – Thanks to parents, guardians for your support of our Eagle Heights kids as we navigate through COVID. The impact of the pandemic has changed our lives in so many ways. We hope to return to in person learning at Eagle Heights on Monday December 7th but this has not yet been determined. The school district will look at the impact on staff absences as well as staff and students who are quarantined as this will guide when students will be returning to in person learning at school. Our staff have worked hard to support our students and how they successfully navigate through Google Classroom. Teachers have been providing valuable ONLINE lessons both live as well as recorded. Students who participate in the live sessions are able to see their classmates as well as interact with other members of their class making their online experience positive. Students can reference all academic lessons – math, ELA, science and social studies as well as their specials - wellness, choir, art, SEL, TAG, and title services as well in Google Classroom. We have so many things that are blessings for our kids at Eagle Heights. Our staff is dedicated, hardworking, and want the best for your (our) kids. Thanks for reaching out if you have questions as we are here to help – we want to ensure that you stay ‘connected’ with school. Teachers communicate frequently through the REMIND app, we send school messengers, and our PTA is very active and does great things for our kids – please stay in tune with school activities on their FACEBOOK page at Eagle Heights Elementary PTA. Parents – thanks for sharing your kids with us. It is rewarding as well as fun talking with them in their classrooms, hallways, cafeteria – we truly have great kids at Eagle Heights. Thanks for believing in our staff and allowing us to do our important work – teaching them. Enjoy the holidays with your family. Many things have been different for us in 2020 and we have demonstrated that we are strong – remember to count your blessings and good things.
