Community Safety and Anti Social Behaviour ‘Respect in North West Leicestershire’ is a an initiative led by the Safer North West Partnership aimed at involving young people in projects which reduce anti-social behaviour, tackle crime and improve pride and respect in our communities. Through the grants, young people have been able to make a positive contribution to their community and their efforts have received recognition at an annual award ceremony hosted by senior members of the Safer North West Partnership.
2010/11 • ‘Respect’ grant for cross-generation tea party given to Acorn Action Group. Followed up with a litter pick. 2012/13 • ‘Respect’ grant given to Oakthorpe Youth Club to organise and art auction to build links to the local community. 2013/14 • ‘Respect’ grant given to Donisthorpe youth club for a project telling the story of the community
Housing – Decent Homes Programme and capital works investments 2010/11 • 174 homes had capital works carried out at £341405, average £1962 2011/12 • 147 homes had capital works carried out at £160064, average £1088 2012/13 • 9 homes improved under DHIP at a cost of £39,238 (average £4,360 each) • 35 homes had Capital works at a cost of £61247, average £1749. 2013/14 • 90 homes improved under DHIP at a cost of £670,817 (average £7,454 each) • 283 homes had Capital works at a cost of £278200, average £983.00
Planning • 10/00680/FUL - Ginn Stables, Measham Road, Oakthorpe - erection of 7 no. dwellings, approved 08.03.2011. • 13/00097/FUL - Merrymans Field, Pastures Lane, Oakthorpe - construction of log cabin to cater for tourists and repair works to Pastures Lane, approved 13.06.2013. • 14/00244/OUTM – Home Farm, 25 Main Street, Oakthorpe - erection of 29 dwellings with new access, woodland planting and landscaping (Outline - Access included). This application was considered at Planning Committee in September 2014, where there was a resolution to grant, subject to the S106 Agreement which is still pending. • 14/00405/FUL - Land At Chapel Street, Oakthorpe. Erection of nine residential dwellings. This application was considered at Planning Committee in July 2014, where there was a resolution to grant permission, subject to the S106 Agreement, which is still pending. • 14/00557/FUL –Land At Canal Street, Oakthorpe. Siting of log cabin for tourist accommodation, approved 29.09.2014.
