Season’s Greetings!

I would like to thank the voters of Quesnel for participating in the municipal election and extend a warm welcome to you, Mayor Simpson and Council members.

I look forward to our future meetings and to working cooperatively with Mayor and Council on strategic opportunities for Quesnel and the regional area.

This is a critical time for our community. Opportunities for Provincial funding include the Build Canada Grant. If obtained, this funding would ensure that Quesnel is best positioned to continue moving forward on managing the West Quesnel Land Stability project. There are two funding opportunities for capital projects under Build Canada over the next 10 years. The next intake is due Feburary 18, 2015. This would be the next opportunity for the West Quesnel Land Stability or any water, sewer, or storm drain capital projects. These projects are highly subscribed and very competitive.

I also look forward to the construction of the new West Fraser arena in Downtown Quesnel in the coming year and a half. Gas Tax now permits local government to apply for funding under this program.

Team work, collaboration and strategic planning are a necessity as our forest economy changes and we must continue to diversify to ensure that Quesnel remains a successful and strong economy.
