Admissions to Secondary Schools
KCC operate a coordinated scheme for transfer to secondary school. This means that it is all managed centrally through the Local Authority. Kent Test/PESE*/11+ (Procedure for Entrance to Secondary Education) 6 Part Test in 4 Papers • Paper 1 –English (multiple choice) • Paper 2 – Mathematics (multiple choice) • Paper 2 Verbal Reasoning/Non-verbal Reasoning/Spatial Reasoning (multiple choice) • Written text (only used for head teachers’ appeals)

Passing the Kent Test
• Scores are Age Standardised • Have to score 106 in each paper and score an aggregate score of 320 • Each selective/grammar school has its own pass rate

6th September Kent Test takes place for Year 6 pupils who have applied
11th October Assessment decisions re: Kent Test posted/emailed after 4pm
31st October Deadline for Secondary School Applications Proposed Key Dates for 2019
National Offer Day 1st March posted to all parents. Parents who applied online will receive an email after 4pm on 1st March. Information about waiting lists and appeals and acceptance deadlines will be included with the offer letter.
April • KCC will reallocate vacant places to pupils on the waiting lists.
