Qualifying Law Degrees The Law Society and Bar Council recognise for qualifying purposes the LLB of the Open University, in which graduates have passed the assessments and examinations set in the four 60-credit modules: Understanding Law; Law the Individual and the State; Law Agreements Rights and Remedies; and Law Ownership and Trusteeship Rights and Responsibilities and a further 120 points of credit. Students should note that, if they wish to use their degree to qualify as a solicitor or barrister, the total duration of studies from first enrolment at the Open University to graduation must be not more than six years. This includes study from elsewhere being used (credit transfer).

Qualifying Law Degrees
From the 2012-2013 academic year, the LLB (Hons) will be validated for delivery at the University's Cyprus site. From the 2014-2015 academic year, the LLB (Hons) Law programme will be validated for franchise delivery at the University of Mauritius. From September 2016 the LLB Law with Criminology and LLB Law with Psychology will have the option of studying at the Burnley College for delivery of Year 1 of the programme for both full time and part time programmes.

The Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Bar Standards Board recognise the Law Degree of the University of London for External students as "Qualifying Law Degrees", provided the period of study involved is not more than six years and the graduate has passed the written assessments in the seven foundation law subjects. Please refer to the course provider for further information. In the case of students registering on or after 1 September 2007, the obtaining of a Qualifying Law Degree is dependent on the submission, within the maximum six year period from registration, of a skills portfolio which satisfies one or other of the sets of criteria for such portfolios which are contained in the regulations for the degree and on the presence of a statement to this effect on a Bologna compliant transcript.
