Brevard Ballet School Anywhere Director Angie Wells

Angie Wells began her formal dance training at Columbia Ballet School and performed with Ann Brodie’s during high school. She attended summer intensive dance programs at The South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts, Hartford Ballet, and Pennsylvania Ballet.

After graduating from high school, Angie studied at North Carolina School of the Arts and Pennsylvania Ballet. Angie danced professionally with Charleston Ballet Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina and Southern Ballet Theatre in Orlando, Florida.

Angie’s repertoire includes The Nutcracker, , Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Paquita, Les Sylphides, Carmen, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Three Musketeers, Western Symphony, Little Improvisations, Serenade, The Rite of Spring, Dracula, The Red Shoes, The Little Prince, Who Cares, Les Girls, The Ugly Duckling, and numerous original works by various choreographers.

After concluding her performing career, she was an instructor at Southern Ballet Theatre and Harwood-Watson Dance Studios and taught in outreach programs at various elementary schools in Orlando, Florida. Angie staged the children’s roles in Southern Ballet Theatre’s production of Cinderella.

Angie Wells is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 & Partnering of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. As an ABT® Affiliate Teacher, she has successfully presented her students for examinations. Angie has also completed coursework with Leap ‘N Learn, an early childhood education-based dance program as well as with Lisa Howell, a dance physiotherapist.

Angie holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of South Florida. She has competed in two Boston Marathons and Ironman Florida. Angie traded her running shoes for a yoga mat in 2014 and enjoys practicing hot yoga daily. She graduated from the Original Hot Yoga Academy, a teacher training program, in February 2021.

Angie opened Brevard Ballet School in 2012 and followed with Brevard Ballet, a non-profit civic in 2014. Brevard Ballet presented two major productions each year, including The Nutcracker. Brevard Ballet’s educational outreach arm provided for scholarships for economically disadvantaged and racial minority students, children with special needs and children with other hardships.

Even though the physical location closed in 2020 due to the pandemic, Angie continues to teach children, youth, and adults from Brevard and across the country virtually through Brevard Ballet School Anywhere. Angie enjoys helping her students grow as dancers and as human beings through the study and mastery of ballet.
