HOW DIGITAL DISTRIBUTION AND EVALUATION IS IMPACTING PUBLIC SERVICE ADVERTISING Aggressive Promotion Yields Significant Results By Bill Goodwill & James Baumann It is no surprise to see that digital distribution of all media products is fast becoming the de facto standard for distribution of media content, particularly for shorter videos such as PSA messages. First let’s define the terms. Digital distribution (also called digital content delivery, online distribution, or electronic distribution), is the delivery of media content online, thus bypassing physical distribution methods, such as video tapes, CDs and DVDs. In additional to saving money on tapes and disks, digital distribution eliminates the need to print collateral materials such as storyboards, newsletters, bounce-back cards, etc. Finally, it provides the opportunity to preview messages online, and offers media high- quality files for download. The “Pull” Distribution Model In the pre-digital world, the media was spoiled because they had all the PSA messages they could ever use delivered right to their desktop, along with promotional materials explaining the importance of the campaigns. Today, the standard way for stations to get PSAs in the digital world is to go to a site created by the digital distribution company and download them from the “cloud.” Using a dashboard that has been created for PSAs, the media can preview the spots and download both the PSAs, as well as digital collateral materials such as storyboards, a newsletter and traffic instructions. CHAPTER 1.3 Internet adoption continues to vary widely across countries. The average Internet penetration rate in Africa is 14 percent—vastly lower than the 85 percent rate in Understanding North America, according to the World Bank. Given the well-recognized role that wider Internet adoption plays in Digital Content and accelerating economic growth, raising Internet adoption rates is an imperative, particularly for developing Services Ecosystems: countries. Barriers to Internet adoption also vary across countries. It focuses on exploring the relationship between customer engagement and different types of digital marketing content, on Snapchat. The research question states: “What is the effect of different brand related content types on customer engagement for beauty brands on Snapchat?” A survey with an experimental design was conducted for three conditions, representing three different types of digital marketing content. Snapchat stories were shown to the participants were after their customer engagement level was measured. The results show that digital marketing content including remuneration on Snapchat scored the highest on two of three customer engagement dimensions, namely on cognitive processing and intention to buy. This insight is not supported by existing academic literature which states that entertainment and information based content should yield higher customer engagement. -

APS Networks® launches three TIP OpenBNG programmable switches to boost the disaggregated telco broadband market. Operators gain further product alternatives right down to the chip level, supporting multi-sourcing strategies for Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) and hybrid use case requirements. The APS Networks® OpenBNG devices are based on Intel Tofino P4-programmable Ethernet switch ASICs, Stratix 10 MX FPGAs and Intel Xeon D Scalable processors. Stuttgart, Germany – June 16th, 2021 – APS Networks® launches three BNG switches which aim to comply with the Telecom Infra Project’s (TIP) OpenBNG requirements, enabling customers to choose between the TIP standard configurations (SC) SC-1, SC-2 and SC-3 leaf designs that best address end user demands. This provides operators flexible deployment options covering full-functionality deployments and service-only BNG deployments and leaf-spine configuration alternatives. TIP OpenBNG is an initiative within the Open Optical & Packet Transport (OOPT) Project Group’s Disaggregated Open Routers (DOR) sub-group. The participating operators in the Project Group are currently preparing a joint Request for Information (RFI) for OpenBNG, leading to test and validation activities and the awarding of TIP badges later in the year for compliant solutions. The OpenBNG initiative is backed by leading operators such as BT, Deutsche Telekom, Telecom Italia, Telefónica and Vodafone Group. Disaggregated and open BNGs allow operators a choice of different hardware platforms and types of network operating system (NOS) and control plane applications they want to use. This agility results in a lower total cost of ownership, ultimately leading to a lower cost per broadband subscriber and reduces dependencies on individual monolithic suppliers. -

Abstract When Netflix launched in April 1998, Internet video was in its infancy. Eighteen years later, Netflix has developed into the first truly global Internet TV network. Many books have been written about the five broadcast networks – NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox, and the CW – and many about the major cable networks – HBO, CNN, MTV, Nickelodeon, just to name a few – and this is the fitting time to undertake a detailed analysis of how Netflix, as the preeminent Internet TV networks, has come to be. This book, then, combines historical, industrial, and textual analysis to investigate, contextualize, and historicize Netflix's development as an Internet TV network. The book is split into four chapters. The first explores the ways in which Netflix's development during its early years a DVD-by-mail company – 1998-2007, a period I am calling "Netflix as Rental Company" – lay the foundations for the company's future iterations and successes. During this period, Netflix adapted DVD distribution to the Internet, revolutionizing the way viewers receive, watch, and choose content, and built a brand reputation on consumer-centric innovation. -

A quantitative analysis have been based on an internal EBU survey and covers channel formatting, programming output, targeting and distribution strategies of their youth channels. It is also looking at the competitive youth radio climate, the offer of interactive services and successful initiatives, platform consumption and key media changes effecting radio. In-depth case studies have been carried out in addition to the survey analysis to give a more detailed description of Members’ activities. Overview The media consumption among young people in Europe is shifting. Sociological trends and new technologies are increasing users’ flexibility and the way they consume media. The market is becoming more and more fragmented and radio content is no longer limited to traditional transmission means. The Internet boom has lead to fast pacing globalization of websites, and the new media landscape is becoming more personalized and diversified.
