Results

The weather was not kind to us: just 7.1 overs were possible in the match away against II. were 30-0 before the match was abandoned.

The Bovingdon St Georges season finally got underway on Sunday. Our friends from Ebury Strollers were the visitors on a fine day but with a drying wicket after overnight rain. You never quite know what you will get when Ebury Strollers come to visit. They were good last weekend with skipper Kameez on particularly good form. Batting first, Ebury amassed 264-8 from their 40 overs with skipper Gavin Ivey the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-29. In reply, BSG made 141 with Andy Ellis top scoring with 60*.

The under 12s season also got underway this week. Visitors scored 286-3 with Bovingdon scoring 249-5 in reply. We were good in the field but the Northchurch bowling was tight throughout and they gave little away. Olivia was the pick of the Bovingdon players, bowling two tight overs and playing some cracking shots to get the innings off to a good start.

Results It was a thrilling finish in last Saturday's league match against Letchworth Garden City III. Batting first, Bovingdon scored 219 -9 off their fifty overs, Luke Stickland top scoring with 62. Jack Blackburn made 45 and veteran performer Ian Arnold made 28 on his season debut. Tom Cowley (3-45) and Mike Buttleman (3-25) were the leading wicket takers for Bovingdon but in the end, LGC scored the winning runs with two balls to spare and one wicket in hand. Bovingdon picked up a near-maximum 17 points.

On Sunday, Bovingdon St George travelled to Briden's Camp to take on Great Gaddesden. Batting first, BSG scored 156, Amit Vij top scoring with 34 and Mike Hart and Dave Ferrousat both making 24. Gavin Ivey and Sean Gatehouse picked up two wickets each in the hosts reply but not enough to stop them winning with four wickets in hand. Monday saw the under 12s away lose heavily to a very strong Chipperfield Clarendon side. Unfortunately, the under 13s match was cancelled.
