FINALS PATTERN: TBD

JUDGES: Wade Reaney and Sandy Collier. Each judge will work two events during the prelims (1 will judge steer stopping and fence work, 1 will judge herd work and reining) and both will judge finals.

ARENAS: M ultiple arenas will be used. These will be posted prior to event and on site at the event.

REQUIRED HEALTH DOCUMENTS: To comply with state animal health regulations, all will require a negative Coggins (Equine Infectious Anemia) dated within 12 months and a health certificate dated within 3 months.

SHOW OFFICE HOURS: T he show office will be open from 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21 and from 6:30 AM – 7:45 AM on Wednesday, January 22. Y ou must be checked in at the show office to compete.

RV HOOK UPS: $35/per night. Limited space is available. Spaces are available first come first serve and are handled by South Buckeye Equestrian Center. F or reservations, text: (623) 210-1197.

STALLS: Stalls range from $15 - $25/day. Prices and options:

PAYOUT: 8 0% of entry fee goes back into the payout. 20% held for cattle and office charges.

AGE: Open to all breeds of horses of all ages regardless of show history.

EQUIPMENT:

· H orses must be shown in a throughout all phases, no tie-downs will be permitted.

· T he traditional bridle with must be used. With romal , hand is to be around the reins in a fist position with thumb up and no fingers between the reins. In the herd work only, romal reins can be held in one hand. Roping reins are optional in the Steer Stopping.

· B ridle bits must be NRCHA legal

· T he preliminaries will consist of four events: herd work, reined work, steer stopping and cow work.

· A rider may show only one . An owner may enter more than one horse provided there is a different rider for each entry. No change (substitution) to a horse / rider combination is allowed once the first go has taken place.

FINALS:

· 1 0 horse/rider combinations will advance to the finals. All ties will be broke by fence work scores.

· F inalists start with a clean slate.

· I n the event that any finals qualified horse / rider combinations do not compete in the finals (scratch), the next placing horse / rider from the preliminary round will fill that spot.

NRCHA REQUIREMENTS AND RULES:

Equipment – Bridle Classes (Bit): A or a bit having the following characteristics must be used in any of the bridle classes. Said characteristics shall be:

5.2.1 Unbroken bar mouthpiece

5.2.2 One inch or higher port measured from the bottom of the bar to the top of the port.

5.2.3 There must be an operable cricket or roller (with single for multiple rings) incorporated within the mouthpiece of the bit.

5.2.4 It is legal to have a barrel made of copper or metal, wrapped around the bar space of the bit and is to be considered a part of the mouthpiece. 5.2.5 The barrel must be round, smooth, and made up of one continuous, unbroken piece.

5.2.6 The minimum diameter, on any part of the bar of the mouthpiece, is 5 / 16 inch.

5.2.7 Bars must be round, oval or egg shaped smooth and unwrapped metal. Latex wrap or any foreign material is not acceptable.

5.2.8 Nothing may protrude below the mouthpiece (bar), such as extensions or prongs.

5.2.9 The cheeks must be connected at the bottom.

5.2.10 The overall length of the bit shall not be longer than 81 ⁄2 inches measured from the inside bottom of the top of headstall ring to point of pull in the bottom ring.

5.2.11 Optional tongue release shall not exceed 3 inches in width.

5.2.12 Braces, copper port cover and/or having copper smoothly inlaid in the mouthpiece are optional.

5.2.13 No wire, chain or other metal or rawhide device may be used in conjunction with the bit or part of leather chin strap.

5.3 Equipment – Bridle Classes (Additional Items) 5.3.1 Chin strap must be smooth leather. No wire, chain or other metal or rawhide device may be used in conjunction with a part of the leather chin strap. Leather chin strap must be at, flexible and at least 1 / 2 inch wide. No metal rivets are allowed to come in contact with the chin, or chin groove of the horse. Metal keepers are not acceptable on the chin strap.

5.3.2 Reins with romal required. The reins can be held in either hand, with hand around reins in a start position with thumbs up. The non- hand must be on the romal. (The keeper, or hobble, that attaches the romal to the reins is considered to be a part of the romal.) The non-rein hand is not allowed, at any time, to touch the reins or a score of -0- will be applied. The rider is allowed to shorten the reins while the horse is in motion as long as their hands are held in a legal manner. No fingers are permitted between the rein. In the herd work, romal reins can be held in one hand. Roping reins are optional in the Steer Stopping.
