DAY 1: SUNDAY, APRIL 26, 2020 • DEPART USA Overnight flight on scheduled air to Rome. DAY 2: MONDAY, APRIL 27, 2020 • ARRIVE IN ROME | ASSISI Arrive at Rome Fiumicino Airport and board your private motorcoach for transfer to Assisi. Stop for lunch on your own enroute. On arrival in Assisi, visit the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels to see the Portiuncola and celebrate Mass. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a special welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Assisi. DAY 3: TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2020 • ASSISI | ROME This morning, celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Francis. Take a guided walking tour of Assisi’s upper village, including the Basilica of St. Francis and the Basilica of St. Clare. Time for lunch on your own and early afternoon at leisure to peruse the shops in this quaint Umbrian town. Depart for Rome and check in to your religious house on arrival. Dinner as a group and overnight in Rome. DAY 4: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29, 2020 • PAPAL AUDIENCE (OPTIONAL) | ANCIENT ROME This morning is at your leisure or optional early departure for St. Peter’s Square to attend the Papal Audience (pending the Holy Father’s final schedule). Lunch on your own. This afternoon, explore the sites of Ancient Rome with an expert guide, including the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Circus Maximus. Celebrate Mass at St. Peter in Chains. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome. DAY 5: THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2020 • CHRISTIAN ROME Celebrate Mass at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, one of the four major basilicas of Rome. After Mass, begin a tour of Christian Rome, including the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, St. Mary Major, and St. John Lateran, the cathedral of Rome. Lunch on your own near St. John Lateran. Continue your tour of Christian Rome this afternoon with a visit to the recently restored Scala Sancta, the steps climbed by Christ in Jerusalem, followed by the Basilica of Santa Croce, which houses some of Christianity’s most important relics, including a piece of the True Cross, thorn, and nails. Dinner as a group. Overnight in Rome. DAY 6: FRIDAY, MAY 1, 2020 • DAY AT LEISURE Celebrate Mass at Santa Maria delle Grazie alle Fornaci. Today is a holiday in Italy, and the entire day will be at leisure for the group. Take time for souvenir shopping or find a hidden church and stop in for a moment of prayer. DAY 7: SATURDAY, MAY 2, 2020 | HISTORIC ROME | AFTERNOON AT LEISURE This morning, celebrate Mass at Santo Spirito in Sassia, the church of Divine Mercy in Rome. After Mass, take a tour of Rome’s historical center, including the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. Free time for lunch in Piazza Navona. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner on your own. Overnight in Rome. DAY 8: SUNDAY, MAY 3, 2020 • OPTIONAL EXCURSION DAY Celebrate Mass this morning, followed by the opportunity to embark on spectacular day trip of your choice, possibly Siena, Florence or even Naples and Pompeii. DAY 9: MONDAY, MAY 4, 2020 • ST. PETER’S BASILICA | VATICAN MUSEUMS & SISTINE CHAPEL Celebrate an early Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica this morning. Visit the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, where you will see some of the most inspiring works of art, including Michelangelo’s magnificent fresco of the Last Judgement. Finish the tour in St. Peter’s Basilica. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Conclude your time in Italy with a celebratory farewell dinner as a group. Overnight in Rome. DAY 10: TUESDAY, MAY 5, 2020 • RETURN TO USA Check out of your hotel and transfer to the airport for return flight(s) to the USA.
