Happy the Feast of “Corpus Christi - The Body and Blood of Christ”

---The Year of the Eucharist started June 2020 and continues to June 2021. In his Pastoral Letter, “The Work of Redemption: Eucharistic Belief and Practice in the Archdiocese of Seattle,” Archbishop Etienne encourages us to grow our understanding and experience of the Eucharist in this special year. The Year of the Eucharist ends on this weekend June 5th & 6th, the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. Archbishop Etienne has celebrated a special Corpus Christi Vigil Mass on June 5th at St. James Cathedral to mark the end of the Year of the Eucharist.

---In our Catholic understanding, Eucharist is not a theological concept but is a living person, and his name is Jesus. Our Eucharistic liturgy proclaims the one bond of life between God and his people. Just as blood that flows outward from the heart and unites all the bodily members in one flow of life, so too are we united intimately with God through the precious body and blood of Jesus. The very nature of the Eucharist implies a bond with God and with the community.

This Feast Day reminds us of the “source of nourishment” that we receive from the Lord everyday or at least once a week in our gathering to celebrate Eucharist. What a truly “special gift” that we have in Jesus Christ who offers us the opportunity to share in “His Divine Life” and to be formed into “His Body”. May each of us set aside a special moment on this Feast Day or this coming week to give thanks and acknowledge this special moment to be in the presence of our Lord.

---An “enthusiastic word of joy” like the Apostles from the Gospel in the Easter Season: “We have seen the Lord; as they told the apostle Thomas”. “WE have sat at the table and share the Body and Blood of Christ - in our First Holy ”.

Congratulation to all the children who have received Eucharist - “encountered the Risen Christ in the Sacrament of Eucharist” this weekend.

-At 11:30 AM and 1:00 PM last Sunday, May 30th; First Names only: Alfonsina, Ana Cristina, Audolino, Basilio, Celeste, Cu- pertino, Emanuel, Flor, Francisco, Gael, Gladis, Gregoria, Jessica, Josefina, Marcos, Mayk, Paulina, Rufina, Salvador

Also, a word of thanks to all the catechists, parents and Religious Education Staff who have shared their faith to these children and help them to continue to be opened to receive the Eucharistic nourishment from the Lord.

---Mindful of forming the here as a Parish Community Prince of Peace, we also connect with our own local Church, the Archdiocese of Seattle, in our common Ministries to the faithful and larger community. In the Annual Catholic Appeal Campaign 2021, we are undertaking is part of this support of 60 different ministries in Archdiocese.

“A deep word of thanks” to the many families who have pledged and turned in your commitment envelopes to the Parish and Archdioce- san Office to support the Annual Catholic Appeal 2021 again this year. We’re closer to our parish goal; so, your continue supports are as the critical testimony of the commitment for us to be “Church” today in our time. If you didn’t have an opportunity of filling your commit- ment envelop, please join with many of your parishioners to pledge toward our parish goal.

---Congratulation to newly Ordained Transitional Deacon John Depalma.

Transitional Deacon Ordinations - A transitional deacon is a seminary student in the process of becoming ordained a priest. They serve as a deacon for one year and are then ordained by the archbishop as a priest.

-Saturday - June 5th, 11:00 AM - seminarian John DePalma - At St. Benedict Parish, Seattle - By Bishop Daniel Mueggenborg. This event is closed to the public. All are invited to join the livestream at www.parish.stbens.net.

---Finally, may the special Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ remind us of God’s special blessing for us and all our families through this special gift of the Eucharist we receive and share with other every day.

Christ’s Peace, Fr. Phuong Hoang Father Phuong Hoang’s ordination anniversary on June 10th
