14 Hazing Preven on Ini a ves
Hazing con nues to be a serious safety concern throughout U.S. Colleges & Universi es. There have been an es mated twenty-one suspected hazing related deaths at U.S. Universi es, since November 2011. In 2017, Penn State, LSU and FSU have all experienced the death of a student, deaths that are being inves gated for possible hazing viola ons.

We understand with high profile incidences of hazing, there will be renewed na onal a en on concerning this issue – At FAMU, we remain diligent and steadfast in our mission to eradicate hazing, not just focusing on Greek le er organiza ons but focusing on a safe campus environment for all students.
FAMU currently has two open inves ga ons to determine if university regula on 2.028 (“the an - hazing regula on”) has been violated
We have four Greek Le er Organiza ons conduc ng intake during the Fall 2017 Semester. Hazing preven on and campus safety, educa onal sessions were held with each organiza on individually.
We also conducted a campus wide hazing preven on seminar on September 7, 2017 (two addi onal seminars were canceled due to storm related university closings)
TRAININGS FOR GREEK ORGS; CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS & ADVISORS; ROTC; MUSIC DEPT; and ATHLETICS con nue and are scheduled for Spring 2018 as well. 16
