1 MEETING OF THE HOUSE

The House met at 2.30 pm according to adjournment. In the absence of the President the Acting President took the Chair.

According to standing order, the Acting President nominated Mr Blair to read the prayers.

(a) the provisions of the Right to Farm Bill 2019 be referred to the Portfolio Committee No. 4 - Industry for inquiry and report,

(b) the bill be referred to the committee upon receipt of the message on the bill from the Legislative Assembly,

(c) that the committee report by Monday 21 October 2019, and

(d) on the report being tabled, a motion may be moved immediately for the first reading and printing of the bill and that the bill proceed through all remaining stages according to standing and sessional orders.

7 PETITIONS

Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019

Revd Mr Nile presented a petition from 1,629 citizens of New South Wales stating that the Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019 legalises abortion and facilitates late term abortion, that the Bill's provisions force medical practitioners who wish to exercise a conscientious objection to direct patients to another practitioner, that the Bill does not provide professional standards for medical practitioners performing the required duties, that the Bill provides no protections for women who may have been coerced into having an abortion, that there has been a failure to facilitate due process of debate, community consultation or a public inquiry and requesting that the House oppose the Bill in its current form.

Opposing the Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019

Revd Mr Nile presented a petition from 558 citizens of New South Wales stating that the Reproductive Health Care Reform Bill 2019 legalises abortion and facilitates late term abortion, fails to protect medical practitioners with a conscientious objection, that the Bill does not provide professional standards for medical practitioners performing the required duties, that the Bill provides no protections for women who may have been coerced into having an abortion, that there has been a failure to facilitate a meaningful process of debate and requesting that the House oppose the Bill or take steps to repeal the Bill in the event that it passes.

14 Medical practitioners to provide information about terminations (1) A medical practitioner who performs a termination must, within 28 days after performing the termination, give the Secretary of the Ministry of Health the information about the termination decided by the Secretary. (2) The information must be given in the way decided by the Secretary including, for example, by using a form approved by the Secretary for the purposes of subsection (1). (3) Information provided by a medical practitioner to the Secretary under this section must not include any particulars which would allow a person on whom a termination was performed to be identified.
