Also,_in view of the Epidemie, and as the result could not affect the Northern Championship, it was decided to cancel the game with Cumberland and Westmorland. . . ).. , --1'"

Clubs are requested not to encourage the arrangement or organisation of Rugby Football matches to be played in the close seasoil. Your Committee have considered this matter very carefuUy and have obtained a ruling from the Rugby Union. Only in very special or extraordinary circumstances will the arrangement of matches to be played between the lst May and 31st August receive consideration. It has been decided by your Comtnittee that although the playing of Rugby Football on Sundays is not to be encouraged it is unnecessary for Clubs to apply for permission to arrange such matches. . . TRIALS '. . . At the end of the season trials :-vere held and the Selectors were able to see a considerably larger number of players than under the system which was worked ID the pasto From the Selectors' point of view these trials were quite useful, and it was suggested that they should be ruil in a similar fashion for the following season. .
