P ART I.-Orders and Notifications by the Governor of , the High Court, GovernmentTreasury, etc. GOVERNMENT OF WEST BENGAL ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT -- NOTIFICATION No. 926/ENff-JI-7/003-ii72003.-16:h April,2018.-Whereas, Kanak Durga Sacred Grove is a remnant forest with traditional beliefs and taboos oflocal inhabitants and rich in-oiodjversity covering an area of55.9 metres, in District of West Bengal; - And, whereas, to strengthen biodiversity conservation and to stem the rapid loss of biodiversity in the sacred grove, the State Government upon recommendation of the West Bengal Biodiversity Board has felt it necessary to declare the area as th Chilkigarh Kanak Durga Biodiversity Heritage Site; And, whereas, the collection of species of plants, animals and microbes from the Chilkigarh Kanak Durga Biodiversity Heritage Site requires to be regulated as per the provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and West Bengal Biological Diversity Rules, 2005; Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section(l) of section 37 ofthe Biological Diversity Act, 2002 and Rule 20 ofthe West Bengal Biological Diversity Rules, 2005, the Governor is pleased hereby to declare the Chilkigarh Kanak Durga Sacred Grove as the Chilkigarh Kanak Durga Biodiversity Heritage Site. The details of the area and boundary ofChilkigarh Kanak Durga Biodiversity Heritage Site is given below: CHILKIGARH KANAK DURGA BIODIVERSITY HERlTAGE SITE The Area covered:- Area 55.9 Acre (perimeter ofl ,969 meters) .{ Panchayat Samity District Jhargram Boundary West Dulung River, extending upto South-West corner. East Agricultural land ofBelboria Mouza (No. 198) (Jamboni village in further East). '\' orth Agricultural land of Ranisol Mouza (No. 132) (Ranisal village in further North); agricultural land ofBera Mouza (N o. 197) in the North-East. South Agricultural land ofBelborya Mouza (No. 198) in the South East; (Chilkigarh village area in further South-West across Dulung river).

The management ofChilkigarh Kanak Durga Biodiversity Heritage Site shall be done by the concerned Biodiversity Management Committee in consultation with the local authorities.

This notification shall come into effect from the date of its publication in the Kolkata Gazette.
