Raise Hand for Avaya Spaces

In Avaya Spaces, you can configure your space so that a member or a guest joining your meeting, once muted by an administrator, can unmute itself only if the administrator permits to do. This feature is called “Prevent Unmuting”. To enable the feature, login to https://spacesavayacloud.com with a web browser or a mobile client, select your space, press the three dots near the space name, select Edit Space.

Edit Space

Inside the Meeting menu item, enable “Prevent Unmuting” and press Apply Changes.

Enable Prevent Unmuting on Your Space

Once this feature is enabled, when a participant (member or guest) is muted by an administrator, they can virtually “Raise Hand” to notify the admin that they want to talk. The icons representing the possibility to mute/unmute are replaced by “Raise Hand/Lower and” icons. The “Mute” Key on the remote control of the device will toggle “Raise Hand/Lower Hand”. Once the participant virtually raises their hand, the administrator will be notified and will have the possibility to accept or deny the participant’s request to talk. If the administrator accepts the request, the participant has the possibility to unmute themselves: the “Lower Hand” is replaced with the “Unmute” icon, and the participant can use the “Mute” Key on the remote control, or through the web/graphical interface of the device as usual to start talking.

Software Upgrade & Downgrade

This section explains how to upgrade or downgrade XT Series software.

Signed Software Packages

Since release 9.0, XT Series software packages are signed by an Avaya Certificate Root Authority recognized by the XT Series. Only verified signed software packages will be accepted by XT Series once upgraded to this release. A software package will be installed only if XT verifies that: • The software package is signed by Avaya IT Root Authority and produced by an authorized build server. • The software package content is not tampered or changed in any way. For this reason, the XT Series upgraded to 9.0 releases will no longer accept by default software packages which have not been signed. This means that to downgrade XT Series to a previous version you must manually disable the verification of the downloaded package signature. Browse to:

[GUI] CONFIGURE >ADVANCED>UTILITIES>REMOTE ACCESS>DOWNLOAD

[WEB] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS>UTILITIES>REMOTE ACCESS>DOWNLOAD o Verify Signature: Yes*/No.

Important • The Verify Signature option does not apply to recovery mode. It is not possible to force an XT version 9.0 or higher to accept an unsigned package when in recovery mode. See Known Issues, “Software Upgrade & Downgrade” section and the table below.

Important • The signed package version cannot be uploaded directly on an XT running a version 8.3.x or earlier by USB or XT Web interface or AT interface or iView. You need to use a special unsigned package in this case. Ask Customer support to receive an unsigned package.

Table 2: XT Software Update Verification Table

How to Upgrade XT Series to a New Build

Software upgrade packages named XT5000_Vx_y_z.exe can be used only to upgrade Avaya XT Series XT500/XT4300 and XTE240 Codec Units. They cannot be used to upgrade XT7100. For XT7100, use XT7000_Vx_y_z.exe. In the rest of the document XTn000 will be used to refer to the proper SW package.

To upgrade the software of an XT Series Codec Unit there are several methods: • Automatic Upgrade Over the Air (OTA Upgrade) – New in 9.2.2 • Upgrade via PC • Upgrade via USB key • Upgrade via a Web Browser • Upgrade via Equinox Management For OTA upgrade, the software is automatically obtained by the device directly from the support site. For all the other methods, before proceeding, assure to save locally the new software package that you downloaded from the support site https://support.avaya.com/products/P1410/avaya--video-conferencing-xt-series/All (Downloads Tab) from the Avaya PLDS (https://plds.avaya.com) or that you received from Customer Support. Search for XT Series in the Support by Product Tab of the site.

Avaya Support Site

Important • Before upgrading it’s always suggested to back-up the previous system configuration from Diagnostics > Utilities > Configuration > Export. • To check the build installed in your device, see Configure > About in the device GUI/Web interface.

Caution • Do not turn off the system until the upgrade procedure is completed. • If the upgrade procedure is interrupted for any reason, do not restart the Codec Unit but repeat the procedure as suggested by the Codec User Interface. • The front camera LED may rotate repeatedly while upgrading. • If the GLAN interface or the Wi-fi interface of the device is not reachable anymore, put the .exe upgrade package into a formatted USB key and insert it into the USB socket (see Upgrade via USB).

Upgrade Over the Air (OTA Upgrade) – Interactive Mode

This release allows the XT Series devices to receive new software upgrades through an Internet connection. An over-the-air upgrade (OTA Upgrade) is the delivery of new software releases to your Avaya XT Series device over a network connection. When OTA Upgrade is enabled, you are alerted that a new release is available as soon as it is published by Avaya on the support site. You can then check the changes in the release and decide if you want to install it on your device or not. OTA Upgrade can be disabled in

[GUI] CONFIGURE > ADVANCED > [ADMINISTRATOR PIN] > UTILITIES>REMOTE ACCESS>DOWNLOAD

[WEB] [ADMIN LOGIN] ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS> UTILITIES>REMOTE ACCESS>DOWNLOAD

• OTA Access Enabled: Yes*/No. Enable HTTPS access to OTA upgrade info on the public internet, to alert the user that a new release is available to upgrade the device.

Important • The device will give a warning if your software license does not cover the upgrade to the new release. • You can upgrade anyway and use the new release (full features) for 30 days of real usage, not calendar. You can downgrade to a previous version any time.

• When a new release is available, an icon will be displayed as below on the UX Home page. A similar notification is available on the Web interface.

Important • If you set a password for the download, the OTA upgrade will fail.

Upgrade via PC – Interactive mode

Release 9.x improves security when upgrading. Since 9.0 version, XT Series software packages are signed by an Avaya Certificate Root Authority recognized by the XT Series. Only signed packages will be accepted by XT Series once upgraded to this version (see XT Software Update Verification Table). Software upgrade packages named XT5000_Vx_y_z.exe can be used only to upgrade Avaya XT5000/XT4300/XTE240 Series Codec Units. Software upgrade packages named XT7000_Vx_y_z.exe can be used only to upgrade Avaya XT7000 Series Codec Units. To upgrade the software of an Avaya XT Series Codec Unit: • Save the XTn000_vx.y.z.exe file containing the XT Series Software in your Windows PC • Verify that the PC is connected to the network in wired mode (otherwise the upgrade process can be very slow when using a wireless connection) and that it can ping XT. • Double click the version .exe file. Below application will be launched. • Insert IP address of the XT to upgrade in the Codec Unit IP address field. • Press “Start” button in the app.
