I am very pleased to inform you that on July 17, 2012, the Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Arvid Spor as the college’s Vice President of Student Services. Dr. Spor comes to Citrus College from El Camino College, where he has worked in a variety of positions since 1999. Most recently, he served as El Camino College’s Dean of Enrollment Services. As such, he was responsible for overseeing student discipline and grievances, outreach and school relations, assessment and testing, financial aid, student development, first year experience/learning communities, job placement and foster care.

In addition to holding the position of Dean of Enrollment Services, Dr. Spor spent time as El Camino College’s Acting Dean of Community Advancement, Director of Workforce and Community Education, Acting Dean of Enrollment Services, and Special Assistant to the Vice President of Students and Community Advancement. He also provided leadership at the Compton Center and chaired and co-chaired many committees, including the El Camino College accreditation self-study.

After attending Portland Community College, Dr. Spor obtained his bachelor’s degree in business and psychology from Oregon State University. He received his master’s degree in counseling from California State University, Long Beach and was recognized as the college’s Outstanding Graduate Student. He also won second place for graduate studies in behavioral and social sciences at the 1998 California State University statewide student competition. He later earned his doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California.

As the new Vice President of Student Services at Citrus College, Dr. Spor will oversee a variety of college offices and departments that are crucial to providing students with a quality educational experience. His extensive knowledge and professional experience will be extremely valuable as the college continues to deliver services that help students achieve success, complete college and meet their educational goals.
