The Smashing Pumpkins Announce Special Performance in Holmdel, Nj on August 2, 2018 As Part of 30Th Anniversary Series THE SMASHING PUMPKINS ANNOUNCE SPECIAL PERFORMANCE IN HOLMDEL, NJ ON AUGUST 2, 2018 AS PART OF 30TH ANNIVERSARY SERIES Los Angeles, CA - May 29, 2018 - Due to overwhelming demand for a second New York area show, GRAMMY® Award-winning, acclaimed alternative rock pioneers, The Smashing Pumpkins today announced a special 30th anniversary performance at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on August 2, 2018. Fans can expect special guests, a career-spanning set list, never before seen production, and more surprises from this momentous performance under the stars. Indie rock band Metric will provide support. Tickets for the show will go on sale to the general public starting this Friday June 1, 2018 at 10:00am local time and be available at www.smashingpumpkins.com, LiveNation.com, and via the Live Nation App. Additional special 30th anniversary shows are expected to be announced in the coming months. Produced by Live Nation, the tour is the band’s first in nearly 20 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, Jimmy Chamberlin, and James Iha. Longtime Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder, bassist Jack Bates, and keyboardist Katie Cole will also take part, as the band moves to a three guitar lineup to better emulate the signature tones and textures of their albums.     The Smart Studios Story Screens at The Greenwich Odeum on November 11 When you delve into music history, you’ll find that a majority of the most important and influential music ever created was only recorded at a few places. Places like Sun Studio in Memphis, Electrical Audio in Chicago, Electric Lady Studios in New York City and FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, are sacred ground. It’s where landmark albums came to be, legendary musicians stepped foot and brilliance shined. Another place was Smart Studios in Madison, Wisconsin, owned by acclaimed producers Butch Vig and Steve Marker who are also part of the alternative rock act Garbage. At the Greenwich Odeum in East Greenwich on Friday, November 11, there will be a screening of the documentary on the recording studio titled The Smart Studios Story. Parts of Nirvana’s masterpiece Nevermind, The Smashing Pumpkins’ debut Gish, The Con by Teagan and Sara, L7’s Bricks Are Heavy and a plethora of spectacular albums were recorded and produced at Smart Studios. It was a place for independent and underground rock acts to get recordings made from the studio’s infancy in the ‘80s right up to its closing in 2010. The documentary, directed by Wendy Schneider, examines the studio’s existence and origin. The film also features interviews with Vig, Marker, Laura Jane Grace from Against Me!, Dave Grohl from Nirvana and the Foo Fighters, Garbage frontwoman Shirley Manson, Jimmy Chamberlin and Billy Corgan from The Smashing Pumpkins and many others. It promises to provide an in-depth look at an historic space located within a building mistaken for being a crack house in the place known as Mad City.

    “When I listen to Gish,” Billy Corgan says today, “what I hear is a beautiful naïveté.” They say you never forget the first time, and even twenty years later, the 1991 debut album by Smashing Pumpkins –– guitarist and vocalist Corgan, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, bassist D’arcy Wretzky and guitarist James Iha –– remains the unforgettable start of a musical conversation that continues to resonate with millions of fans all around the world. In retrospect, Gish can clearly be heard as a groundbreaking album in the history of what would soon become more much widely known as alternative rock. Gish was, after all, the promising debut of a band that would help alternative rock quickly become part of a new, grungier mainstream. But back in the beginning, Gish was simply the memorable opening salvo by a band from Chicago that really didn’t fit in anywhere in the rock world –– that is, until bands like Smashing Pumpkins helped change the rock world once and for all. To hear Corgan tell it now, Smashing Pumpkins came by their beautiful naïveté naturally. “We’d had very little exposure to the national stage,” he explains. “There’s no way that if we had been exposed to all of what was going on in New York and L.A. earlier, we would have made Gish. This is one of those weird albums that sounds like it came from some guy who crawls up out of the basement holding a record in his hands proudly –– a little like the first time we heard Dinosaur Jr. You think, ‘who the hell is this? And where did that come from?’ ” According to Corgan, the album originally came from Smashing Pumpkins’ early vow of poverty.

They also recorded and released one live album, Disturbed: Live at Red Rocks on November 18, 2016, which was recorded on August 18, 2016 at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado, located about 10 miles west of Denver, Colorado. Their seventh studio album, Evolution, was released on October 19, 2018. Before David Draiman joined Disturbed, guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren, and bassist Steve “Fuzz” Kmak were in a band called Brawl with vocalist Erich Awalt. Before changing their name to “Brawl”, however, Donegan mentioned in the band’s DVD, Decade of Disturbed, that the name was originally going to be “Crawl”; they switched it to “Brawl”, due to the name already being used by another band. Awalt left the band shortly after the recording of a demo tape; the other three members advertised for a singer.
