Incoming July 2019 Penn Division of Gastroenterology Fellows Please welcome all:

Gastroenterology Fellow Maimon Hubbi, MD, PhD Dr. Hubbi received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in 2002. Dr. Hubbi earned his post-doctoral degree in 2010 and medical degree in 2015 from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine- prior to completing his Internal Medicine Residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in June 2018. Dr. Hubbi completed one year of Cardiology fellowship in June 2019, prior to beginning our Gastroenterology fellowship. He will be in the Basic Science program. Gastroenterology Fellow

Melissa Kaltenbach, MD Dr. Kaltenbach received her undergraduate degree from Georgetown University, majoring in Human Science. Dr. Kaltenbach earned her medical degree from SUNY Upstate in 2016, prior to completing her Internal Medicine Residency at The University of Pennsylvania in June 2019. She will be in the Clinical Epidemiology degree program.

Gastroenterology Fellow Vivian Ortiz, MD Dr. Ortiz received her undergraduate from Brown University, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Ortiz earned her medical degree from Meharry Medical College in 2016, prior to completing her Internal Medicine Residency at Yale-New Haven in June 2019. She will be in the Basic Science program.

Gastroenterology Fellow Sanjay Salgado, MD Dr. Salgado received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College, majoring in Neuroscience and Religion. Dr. Salgado earned his medical degree at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in 2015. Dr. Salgado completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in June 2018. Dr. Salgado earned his Ed.M. at Harvard Graduate School of in May 2019. He will be in the Clinical Scholar program.

Gastroenterology Fellow Louise Wang, MD Dr. Wang received her undergraduate degree from The University of Pennsylvania in 2011, majoring in Economics and Biology, Minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. Dr. Wang earned her medical degree at Stanford University School of Medicine in 2016, prior to completing her Internal Medicine Residency at The University of Pennsylvania in June 2019. She will be in the Clinical Epidemiology degree program.

Gastroenterology Fellow

Inuk Zandvakili, MD, Ph. D Dr. Zandvakili received his undergraduate degree from The University of Western Ontario, majoring in Biochemistry. Dr. Zandvakili earned his post- doctoral degree in 2015 and medical degree in 2016 from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Zandvakili completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Mayo Clinic, Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education in June 2019. He will be in the Basic Science program.

Advanced Transplant Hepatology Fellow Nadim Mahmud, MD Dr. Mahmud received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale University, majoring in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry. Dr. Mahmud also earned an MPH degree in Advanced Biostatistics and Clinical Trial Designs prior to earning his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, CA. Dr. Mahmud completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in June 2016. Dr. Mahmud completed his Gastroenterology fellowship and received his

MSCE degree at The University of Pennsylvania in June 2019.

Advanced Endoscopy Fellow Crystale Cruz, DO Dr. Oakman attended The Pennsylvania State University, where she received her undergraduate degree in 2002, majoring in Psychology, Concentration in Biological Sciences. Dr. Cruz received her Masters of Science in Biomedical Science degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2002, prior to receiving her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 2006. Dr. Cruz completed a Urology Post-doctoral research fellowship at The John’s Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2008, prior to completing her Internal Medicine Residency at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in 2012. Dr. Cruz completed her Gastroenterology fellowship at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in 2015, and since worked as Gastroenterologist at the Madigan Army Medical Center and Fort Belvoir Community Hospital while serving in Active Duty in the United States Army.

Advanced Endoscopy Fellow Joseph Triggs, MD, PhD Dr. Triggs attended The University of Pennsylvania, where he received his undergraduate degree in 2005. Dr. Triggs received his Post-doctoral degree from The University of Chicago Graduate School in 2011, prior to receiving his medical degree in 2013, at The University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Dr. Triggs completed his Internal Medicine Residency at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in 2015. Dr. Triggs completed his Master of Science in Clinical Investigation Certificate Program at Northwestern University Graduate School and Post-doctoral research training- while completing his Gastroenterology fellowship at McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University in June 2019.

Advanced Inflammatory Bowel Disease Fellow

Abhik Bhattacharya, MBBS, MD Dr. Bhattacharya attended the Kakatiya Medical College in , , Where he received his medical education degree in 2011. Dr. Bhattacharya completed his Internal Medicine Internship at The John H. Stroger Jr Hospital of Cook County, Chicago in 2014, prior to completing his Internal Medicine residency in June 2016 at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Bhattacharya completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH in June 2019.
