Here we go! Our second focus has been made on Berlin.
During the last decade, it was the European city that got itself increasingly more under the spotlight. It has somehow always been a cornerstone for political and economic dynamics that led – and still do- the cultural and artistic expressions.
The aftermath of that grey-concrete deep wound – also known as the 3.6 meters high and 106 km long Berlin wall – are still visible today . On every corner you set your eyes, there are indelible signs that reiterate that perennial contrast , where the ‘old’ and the ‘new’ stand side by side, modern glass and steel architecture and vestiges of bombed buildings , contemporary and experimental exhibitions immersed in neighborhoods of young-fueled crowds, vintage bars and secondhand shops creating a polychromatic and cheerful atmosphere.
Berlin is undoubtedly associated with clubs and electro music which still attract many people from all around the world. The city has turned to a mass tourism destination for that same reason, gradually letting fade the original spirit of those extreme artistic expressions. Nowadays, there is very little awareness about what Rave , Punk and industrial music have meant one day and are therefore reduced to being called “clubs “ , which undermines the whole underground soul of the city.
