    India Association of Tallahassee Kids Cricket Tournament Rules and Regulations General Information and Groups We would encourage player Aged between 12 – 17 age group. Once we get the registration, we will do trial out on a day before the game day. On the trail out day, we will explain the rules of the tournament in high level and make 3 to 4 teams and we will assign one coach per team. Each team will have seven players a side and keep 7 overs match. A team must use 4 bowlers to complete 7 overs and maximum of two overs per bowler. For example: If 3 bowlers were bowling 2 overs then the team must use 4th bowler to finish the 7th over. Depending on the number of entries, IATLH may modify the format before the start of the tournament. PLAYERS AND TEAM Each team will consist of 7 players. BATTING AND BOWLING ORDER The batting & bowling face-offs between the teams shall be decided by the drawing of lots. BOWLING No member of any team will be allowed to bowl 2 overs consecutively. You can bowl or you can throw the ball, but under Arm throwing is not allowed. BATTING AND RUNS SCORED Each run scored by a batsman off the bat, will count as runs for his team. Cohen Department of Mathematical Sciences Faculty of Science University of Technology, Sydney PO Box 123, Broadway NSW 2007, Australia [email protected] Abstract Two distinct aspects of the application of probabilistic reasoning to cricket are considered here. First, the career bowling figures of the members of one team in a limited-overs competition are used to determine the team bowling strike rate and hence the probability of dismissing the other team. This takes account of the chances of running out an opposing batsman and demonstrates that the probability of dismissing the other team is approximately doubled when there is a good likelihood of a run-out. Second, we show that under suitable assumptions the probability distribution of the number of scoring strokes made by a given batsman in any innings is geometric. With the further assumption (which we show to be tenable) that the ratio of runs made to number of scoring strokes is a constant, we are able to derive the expression (A/(A + 2))0/2 as the approximate probability of the batsman scoring at least c runs (c ~ 1), where A is the batsman's average score over all past innings. In both cases, the results are compared favourably with results from the history of cricket. 1 Introduction In an excellent survey of papers written on statistics (the more mathematical kind) applied to cricket, Clarke [2] writes that cricket "has the distinction of being the first sport used for the illustration of statistics", but: "In contrast to baseball, few papers in the professional literature analyse cricket, and two rarely analyse the same topic."     A SHORT GUIDE TO SCORING Cricket matches need scorers to record runs scored, wickets taken and overs bowled. The purpose of this Guide is to give guidance to those who are new to scoring and players who score only part of an innings THE BATTING SECTION OF THE SCORING RECORD • You should have received a team list, hopefully with the batting order identified. • Record the name of the batsman in pencil or as the innings progresses - captains often change the batting order! • Indicate the captain with an asterisk ( *) and the wicket keeper with a dagger symbol ( †). • When a batsman is out, draw diagonal lines // in the ‘Runs Scored’ section after all entries for that batsman to show that the innings is completed. • Record the method of dismissal in the " how out " column. • Write the bowler's name in the " bowler " column only if the bowler gets credit for the dismissal. • When a batsman’s innings is completed record his total score. CUMULATIVE SCORE • Use one stroke to cross off each incident of runs scored. • When more than one run is scored and the total is taken onto the next row of the cumulator this should be indicated as shown below.     Intramural Sports Cricket Rules NC State University Recreation uses a modified version of the Laws of Cricket as established by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC). The rules listed below represent the most important aspects of the game with which to be familiar. Rule I: Terminology Defined Bails – One of the (2) small pieces of wood that lie on top of the stumps to form the wicket Batsman – (2) batsmen are required to be on the field for the batting side at all times. If (2) batsmen cannot be fielded, the innings is declared over. One batsman is denoted the striking batsman while the other is declared the non-striking batsman. These titles will be shared between the (2) batsmen on the pitch, depending on which one is being bowled to currently and which is just running. a) Striking Batsman – The batsman that is facing the bowler and making contact with the ball. b) Non-Striking Batsman – The batsman that is on the same side of the pitch as the bowler and does not make contact with the ball. In such cases, different methods can be used to establish which team wins. The method currently in use is called the Duckworth-Lewis method; it was introduced at the international level in 1998. The purpose of this project is to investigate and check the accuracy of Duckworth-Lewis method and make statistical comparisons with other proposed methods. The accuracy is checked via bias estimation, Cohen's Kappa and root mean square error methods; cross-validation is used to assess out-of-sample accuracy. The resource table, a summary of the expected fraction of total runs scored by a given point in the game, has missing values and monotonicity flaws. To improve the resource table, different statistical methods such as isotonic regression and Gibbs sampling, are used to construct different resource surfaces. The accuracy results show that the Duckworth- Lewis displays the lowest accuracy out of all the methods; whereas, the improved Duckworth-Lewis is more accurate at predicting the new target or results of stopped games.

The ball is traditionally dyed red, with the stitching white. Cricket Bat - Made of willow and the blade is flat on one side. It is humped on the other side for strength. The bat can only be a maximum of 38 inches long. Wickets - There are 2 wickers - wooden structures made up of 3 stumps topped by a pair of bails. Stumps - 3 wooden posts 1 inch wide by 32 inches high. Bails - 2 wooden crosspieces that sit in grooves atop the stumps. The Game: Cricket is a team sport for 2 teams of 11 players each. A formal game of cricket can last anything from an afternoon to several days. Although the game play and rules are very different, the basic concept is similar to that of baseball. Teams bat in successive innings and attempt to score runs, while the opposing team fields and attempts to bring and end to the batting team's innings. After each team has batted the same number of innings the team with the most runs wins. Play begins when the bowler (like a pitcher) bowls a ball to the batsman. It must be bowled over arm and the arm must be straight. The difference between bowling and throwing is that the elbow is cocked when you throw.

In sports, including Test cricket, athletes from years past serve as performance role models and set benchmarks for subsequent generations of players. Sports fans often wonder: are players of today as good as greats from the past? Alternatively, how do today’s athletes compare with greats from yesteryears? This paper attempts to answer that question for Test match cricket. We applied data mining to batting performance of eighty, now retired, Test Cricket Greats (TCG from hereon) from eight major Test cricket countries. Batting performance attributes included batting average, strike rate, numbers of fifties and hundreds scored, among others. Using k-Means cluster analysis, TCG performance records were classified into three clusters which was our Training Model. Two clusters were populated by established batsmen and the third cluster included bowlers, all-rounders with significant bowling, and some batsmen. The Learning Model was applied to predict classifications of thirty two Test Cricket Active (TCA from hereon) players. Statistical tests were performed, cluster wise, to highlight similarities and dis-similarities between TCA and TCG players. Results show that several active players, while still mid-career, have already achieved batting performance records which are at par with the best of TCG. Whilst this is our current offer, as team and clubs develop we hope that the opportunities and structures will grow year on year to support and meet the needs of those playing. Softball Played with a softer ball and a branded women’s lightweight bat. No need for pads or helmets. Teams sizes are typically eight players. Players will bat for a set amount of overs, even if they are out. Games can be short, sharp and fun. Everyone player is involved. Hardball We are developing both women’s and girls club opportunities . The format is played with a pink cricket ball and players will use a wooden bat. Players will wear gloves, helmets and pads. Team sizes will vary from eight –eleven. Games can last a lot longer than soft ball cricket matches! Indoor Somerset leagues tend to be played with softer balls, very similar to those used in Softball matches. Games are usually played in a traditional sports hall and consist of six players. Games are fast and typically over within the hour. No need to worry about the rain here! Cricket - what I need to know The aim of the game is to score more runs than the opposition! The objective of the fielding team is to dismiss the opposing batters. In simple terms, it means to get them out! In the game of cricket there are TEN ways to get someone out! Depending on whether you play soft ball or hardball cricket, not all methods of dismissal will be used during a game.

These Codes have been subject to additions and alterations recommended by the governing authorities of the time. Since its formation in 1787, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has been recognised as the sole authority for drawing up the Code and for all subsequent amendments. The Club also holds the World copyright. The basic Laws of Cricket have stood remarkably well the test of time. It is thought the real reason for this is that cricketers have traditionally been prepared to play in the Spirit of the Game, recognised in the Preamble since 2000, as well as in accordance with the Laws. The changes made in this 2017 Code reflect views following a global consultation with players, umpires and administrators at all levels of the game, including the International Cricket Council, the sport’s global governing body. The game has evolved quickly, requiring six Editions of the 2000 Code to be published in only fifteen years. A new Code was necessary to rationalise these amendments and to list the Laws in a more logical format and order. The guiding objectives behind the changes, evidenced from the consultation, have been to maintain a fair balance between bat and ball, to make the Laws easier to understand, to safeguard players’ welfare, and to give umpires more mechanisms to address instances of poor behaviour by players.
