Rachel brings over 30 years’ experience working in the NGO sector, bringing an empowering, teamwork approach to people, systems and resource development and management. As a consultant since 2012 Rachel has undertaken assignments with a wide range of NGOs. With a focus on supporting funding, learning, accountability and programme management, these have included training and coaching, project management, leading on institutional donor grant applications and tenders as well as donor intelligence and research, strategy development. Combined with her many years’ experience as a senior manager and funding specialist, Rachel has an MSc in Development Management, and an MA with distinction in Gender and International Development. A strong believer in collaboration within the international NGO sector, she is active in Bond, a member of Bond’s Funding Group Steering Committee, and is a regular trainer on Bond’s Fundraising from Institutions open programme course. Rachel blends strong analytical skills with an open and facilitating style.

Director and Consultant, Flamingo for NGOs (previously known as Haynes-Perez Associates) May 2012 to current Consultancy offering funding, learning and management services for international development NGOs. Funding and Facilitation Specialist, Fit for the Future Fellowship Phase Two, ActionAid UK. September 2019 to current. Following the delivery of the highly successful Phase 1 Fellowship below, I am leading the facilitation of Phase Two of the Action Aid UK Fellowship for 12 fellows from ActionAid Federation members and Women’s Rights Organisation’s partners in , Rwanda and .

PREVIOUS RECENT CONSULTANCY ASSIGNMENTS

Project Manager, Fit for the Future Fellowship, ActionAid UK. January 2019 to June 2019. Managing and delivering a six month Fellowship programme for 12 fellows from ActionAid Federation members and Women’s Rights Organisation’s partners. The Fellowship addresses programme design and management, funding, donor relations, from a feminist and human rights perspective, through a series of three week long workshops, a series of webinars, creation of communities of practice and an on line resource bank. At the end of the Fellowship, Rachel co-wrote and designed a manual for running future Fellowships.

Rachel Haynes, March 2020 1 Lead Researcher and Authour, “Promising Approaches to financing development in the 21st Century”, Forus. February 2019 to July 2019 Rachel led a team of three researchers, combining a literature review and interviews with twenty- one Forus members, to produce a published Research Report, that was profiled by Forus at the 2019 High Level Political Forum. The team also produced an accompanying Toolkit for Forus members. This blog explains more about the research.
