For Windows

The Administrator can perform the installation activity either by Wizard Installation or with Silent Installation feature. For more information about each type of installation, see the following sections:

Silent Installation The Administrator can perform the Silent Installation activity either by using .exe setup format or .msi setup format.

Table 0-4: Silent Installation Parameter .exe setup format Following is the SSI Agent Silent Installation parameter: "SSIAgent.exe /s /v/qn" Following is the SAM Agent Silent Installation parameter: “SummitAssetAgent.exe /s /v/qn" .msi setup format Following is the SSI Agent Silent Installation parameter: “SummitSystemInformation.msi ACCEPT=YES /qn"

(or) from batch file "Msiexec /i C:\SummitSystemInformation.msi ACCEPT=YES /qn"

Following is the SAM Agent Silent Installation parameter: Msiexec /i C:\SAM\SummitAssetAgent.msi ACCEPT=YES /qn

Note: Now, only .exe setup file for SAM Agent is provided from v2.0.4.x with SUMMIT v5.7 SP3 onwards. From v5.7 SP3 onwards, the SummitAI Asset Agent supports stealth mode RDP feature, which requires admin privileges to register during installation and uninstallation procedures. Earlier, while using .msi file for installation and uninstallation, this registration was not happening as all the commands were not executing with admin privileges. Hence, to overcome this issue, the .msi setup file is now converted into .exe executable format.

Configuration File The configuration file for the SummitAI Agent is available at /etc/SummitLxAssetAgent.conf path. This configuration file is provided to customize the agent functionality partially to suit the appropriate network environment and installations.

Note: The configuration file is mandatory to successfully monitor the agents all the time. The configuration file is protected by the syntax to avoid manual editing/modification of the configuration parameters. Without the configuration file, SummitAI Agent may not be able to scan the existing installations, which may produce conflicts at the output stage.

Parameter Information • The Summit Server parameter indicates the Summit Server IP or host name to which the performance monitoring metrics needs to be sent. This value can be changed, when the Summit server IP / host name changes in your environment. SUMMIT_SERVER=http://summitserver.yourdomain.com • The GetAgentUpdate parameter indicates receiving agent update schedule. By default, it is set to once in every 12 hours. The value of this field should not be modified manually. POLL_GET_UPDATE_DURATION=12h • The POLL_HW_INFO_DURATION parameter indicates the polling period of the agent for hardware information. The set default value is 6 hours. POLL_HW_INFO_DURATION=6h • The POLL_SW_INFO_DURATION parameter indicates the polling period of the agent for software information. The set default value is 6 hours. POLL_SW_INFO_DURATION=6h • The POLL_AGENT_STAT_INFO_DURATION parameter indicates the polling period of the agent for status information. The set default value is 5 minutes. POLL_AGENT_STAT_INFO_DURATION=5m • The Agent Log Rotation Size parameter indicates the size of the agent log at which the agent has to archive the log file. The value is defined in bytes. LOG_ROTATE_SIZE_IN_BYTES=110755840 • The Agent Version parameter indicates the version of the Linux agent you are running on the system and the value of agent version should not be changed.

Asset Agent Installation Guide Version: Sierra

SUMMIT-AAInstall-Sierra Classification: External Date: 11-05-2020 27

• The Summit home parameter indicates the path of the folder in which the SummitAI Agent is installed on the system and the value of this parameter should not be changed.

Verification of Installation of the Asset Agent • Agent Log File The Agent Log file is stored at /var/log/SummitAgent with the file name “monitor$PLATFORM.log” (Ex: /var/log/SummitAgent/SummitLxAssetAgent.log) By default, the agent checks the log file size regularly and if it exceeds the limit of 100MB, the log file is truncated automatically. This value can be changed in the configuration file, “/etc/SummitLxAssetAgent.conf” by updating the parameter “LOG_ROTATE_SIZE_IN_BYTES”. Note that the value should be in bytes only. The archived log file is saved in the path /var/log/SummitAgent directory in the format of “SummitLxAssetAgent.log..tar.gz” A sample Log File output:

Note: All the Configurations for monitoring the metrics are defined at the Application User Interface and the current version of Asset Agent does not support the manual changes on the Linux Platform based systems. Make sure that you do not schedule the monitoring agent metrics (Srvcs, Get_Srvcs, cpu_mem_proc, so on) very frequently, except heart_beat metrics, which will gradually contribute in increasing the CPU/Memory usage of the server. Make sure that you do not provide any conflicting polling frequency. Asset Agent does not allow multiple

metrics to execute at the same time. The exception is only for the Heart_Beat metrics which runs without any interruption with other metrics.

Configuration File The configuration file for the SummitAI Agent is available at etc/SummitLxAssetAgent.conf path. This configuration file is provided to customize the agent functionality partially, to suit the appropriate network environment and installations.

Parameter Information • The Agent Version parameter indicates the version of the Linux agent that you run in your system. You should not change the value of this parameter. • The Summit Home parameter indicates the path of the folder in the system, where SummitAI Agent is installed. You should not change the value of this parameter. SUMMIT_HOME=/usr/local/SummitAgent/Linux • The Summit Server parameter indicates the Summit Server IP or host name to which the performance monitoring metrics are sent. This value can be changed, when the Summit server IP/ host name are changed in your environment. SUMMIT_SERVER=http://summitserver.yourdomain.com • The Get Agent Update parameter indicates receiving agent update schedule. The default value of this schedule is set to once in every 12 hours. You should not change the value of this parameter manually. POLL_GET_UPDATE_DURATION=12h • The POLL_HW_INFO_DURATION parameter indicates the polling period of the agent for hardware information. The default value of this period is set to once in every 6 hours. POLL_HW_INFO_DURATION=6h • The POLL_SW_INFO_DURATION parameter indicates the polling period of the agent for software information. The default value of this period is set to once in every 6 hours.

Asset Agent Installation Guide Version: Sierra

SUMMIT-AAInstall-Sierra Classification: External Date: 11-05-2020 34

POLL_SW_INFO_DURATION=6h • The POLL_AGENT_STAT_INFO_DURATION parameter indicates the polling period of the agent for status information. The default value of this period is set to once in every 5 minutes. POLL_AGENT_STAT_INFO_DURATION=5m • The Agent Log Rotation Size parameter indicates the size of the agent log at which the agent has to archive the log file. The value of the size is defined in bytes. LOG_ROTATE_SIZE_IN_BYTES=110755840

Agent Log File The Agent Log file is stored at /var/log/SummitAgent with the file name “monitor$PLATFORM.log” (Ex: /var/log/SummitAgent/SummitUxAssetAgent.log) By default, the Agent checks the log file size regularly and if the log file size exceeds the limit of 100MB, the log file is shorten automatically. This value can be changed in the configuration file “/etc/SummitUxAssetAgent.conf” by updating the parameter “LOG_ROTATE_SIZE_IN_BYTES”. The value of the size must be in bytes. The archived log file is saved in the path “/var/log/SummitAgent”, in the format “SummitUxAssetAgent.log..tar.gz” A sample Log File output is as follows:
