FUEL TV TO DELIVER AUSTRALIA’S MOST COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE OF UFC

In 2010 FUEL TV will once again offer Australia’s most comprehensive coverage of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world’s premier organisation.

Following the hugely popular The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 last year, the series that launched UFC into the spotlight will return for an eleventh season next month with TUF 11 to premiere on Sunday 4 April at 8.30pm AEDST.

For just the second time, the series will feature a local contestant in 29-year-old Sunshine Coast fighter Kyle Noke .

Noke, a former abattoir worker who originally hails from Dubbo in the NSW central west, served as a personal security guard for the late ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin right up until the time of his tragic passing in 2006.

Nowadays fighting out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Noke will battle it out with 27 other middleweights on the quest for a six-figure UFC contract.

As well as screening each episode of TUF 11 beginning on Easter Sunday, FUEL TV will this week whet the appetite of UFC fans with LIVE and EXCLUSIVE coverage of Ultimate Fight Night 21 from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Coverage of Ultimate Fight Night 21 will begin at 11am AEDST this Thursday (1 April) and features a spectacular card including the much-hyped showdown between Japanese superstar Takanori Gomi and .

Adam Howarth, FUEL TV Channel Manager, said FUEL TV remains the home of UFC on Australian television in 2010.

“FUEL TV will deliver more UFC content than any other network this year, including exclusive coverage of various live events, including the live finale of TUF 11 & 12, and Ultimate Fight Nights,” said Howarth.

UFC President, , said the popularity of UFC has soared in Australia since the UFC 110 event was held in Sydney in February.

“The way the Aussie fans have taken to UFC there is insane. All 17,000 tickets for UFC 110 sold out in an hour and before we’d even announced a single fight,” said White.

“The fans over there know what they’re watching, they are educated in MMA and they are very educated on all the ground fighting stuff with the ,” he said.

“We already knew we had some awesome fans in Australia before UFC 110 in Sydney, but we dropped the bomb there and the whole popularity of UFC is exploding down there.”
