  • Aow 2021 14 No Voter Fraud
    1. Mark your confusion. 2. Show evidence of a close reading. 3. Write a 1+ page reflection. The Times Called Officials in Every State: No Evidence of Voter Fraud The president and his allies have baselessly claimed that rampant voter fraud stole victory from him. Officials contacted by The Times said that there were no irregularities that affected the outcome. Source: Nick Corasanti, Reid J. Epstein and Jim Rutenberg, New York Times, November 12, 2020 PHILADELPHIA — Election officials in dozens of states representing both political parties said that there was no evidence that fraud or other irregularities played a role in the outcome of the presidential race, amounting to a forceful rebuke of President Trump’s portrait of a fraudulent election. Over the last several days, the president, members of his administration, congressional Republicans and right wing allies have put forth the false claim that the election was stolen from Mr. Trump and have refused to accept results that showed Joseph R. Biden Jr. as the winner. But top election officials across the country said in interviews and statements that the process had been a remarkable success despite record turnout and the complications of a dangerous pandemic. “There’s a great human capacity for inventing things that aren’t true about elections,” said Frank LaRose, a Republican who serves as Ohio’s secretary of state. “The conspiracy theories and rumors and all those things run rampant. For some reason, elections breed that type of mythology.” “Kansas did not experience any widespread, systematic issues with voter fraud, intimidation, irregularities or voting problems,” a spokeswoman for Scott Schwab, the Republican secretary of state in Kansas, said in an email Tuesday.

MERRILL SECRETARY OF STATE October 2, 2020 Senator Mitch McConnell 317 Russell S.O.B. Washington, DC 20510 Dear Majority Leader McConnell: Thank you for your swift action to hold hearings and to make certain that each Senator has the opportunity to consider the President’s nomination to fill the open seat on the Supreme Court of the United States. It is of utmost importance that the Supreme Court has a full nine-member court before Election Day on November 3, 2020. Maintaining the integrity and credibility of our elections is of paramount significance to each of us as our state’s respective chief election official. Americans must be able to exercise their constitutional right to vote with confidence, knowing their ballot will be counted for the candidate of their choice. In the case an election issue is challenged in court, America cannot afford a tie vote. We must be able to report election results in a timely, secure, and efficient manner as we have done before. The Honorable Amy Coney Barrett is an outstanding nominee for consideration for a vacancy on the Supreme Court of the United States. She brings with her an unblemished record and extensive experience as a litigator and distinguished professor of law at the University of Notre Dame. Her philosophy and tried and true beliefs of upholding the constitution and the laws of our nation as written make her an excellent choice for our nation’s highest court.

  • 2020 Trust Women Kansas Primary Election Voter Guide
2020 Trust Women Kansas Primary Election Voter Guide Trust Women is a 501(c)3 organization and neither endorses nor opposes any candidate. In July we mailed a candidate questionnaire to each candidate running for office in the upcoming state and federal primary election, regardless of affiliation with any party or organization. The answers provided do not denote any affiliation or endorsement by Trust Women, nor does a candidate’s choice to participate in our questionnaire signify affiliation or endorsement. The endorsements we have included along with our questionnaire responses are those given by the anti-choice organization Kansans for Life and the pro-choice organization Planned Parenthood. Yes and No answers and any additional comments about the questions we asked candidates are included in this document. The voting record on issues of reproductive rights of each candidate already serving in public office is listed in this document as well. The voter guide itself is listed according to elected office and then numerically by district for each position. So, if you were looking for Kansas State Senator candidates in district 16, you would first look for the Kansas Senate section and follow down numerical order until you find district 16. Voter Guide Key Y: Yes N: No U: Undecided VRP: Voting record pro-choice VRA: Voting record anti-choice We hope you find the information below helpful. Kansas Candidate Survey These are the questions asked of the candidates running for office in Kansas. Each candidate had the opportunity to answer each question with a yes or no and provide further comment to explain their stance for each question.

  • Treasury, HUD Submit Housing Reform Plans Federal Reserve Proposes
In classic Greek mythology, a golden apple of discord inscribed "For the fairest" was awarded to Aphrodite, beginning a chain of events that led to the Trojan War. GrayRobinson's newsletter reports on the most recent issues, individuals, and discourse deemed fairest in Washington. September 6, 2019 . aaaand we’re back. How was your August? We are thankful that our offices in Melbourne and Jacksonville, among others, were spared the worst of Hurricane Dorian, but the hurricane season still has almost three months to run. Stay safe, everybody. Treasury, HUD submit housing reform plans Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson submitted two plans to the White House yesterday for ending the conservatorship of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, restructuring the government guarantees for housing loans, and protecting taxpayers from further liability. The Treasury report calls for almost 50 legislative changes to limit the government’s role in the secondary market, enhance taxpayer protections, and encourage private-sector competition. “At the same time, reform should not and need not wait on Congress,” the report said. The HUD plan would “refocus” the Federal Housing Administration on its “core mission of helping low- and moderate-income borrowers.” Mnuchin, Carson, and Federal Housing Finance Administration Director Mark Calabria will appear before the Senate Banking Committee next Tuesday to discuss the plans. Senate Banking Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R- ID) said yesterday that many of the Treasury plan’s provisions corresponded to elements of his own proposal, and that he would prefer “to fix the housing finance system through legislation.” Federal Reserve proposes capital requirements for insurance companies that own banks Today the Federal Reserve published a long-awaited proposal to create a capital framework for the eight insurance companies that own banks.
