Emergency Call Rescue Service / Fire Department  112

In case of situations dangerous to life, emergencies or outbreaks of fire, please always dial the emergency call number 112 !

The emergency call is free of charge and also can be dialled per mobile phone.

Please always say your address, respectively your current whereabouts! An ambulance will then be sent to you.

In case of violence, violent conflicts, robbery or cases you cannot handle, please call the police under the number  110.

The Frauenhaus (Shelter for Battered Women) is an asylum for women, who have experienced violence through other people. In order to guarantee safety, the address is confidential. The stay is free of charge.

If you go to the hospital (RoMed Klinikum Rosenheim, Pettenkoferstraße 10, 83022 Rosenheim) on your own, please take your health insurance card or a health insurance certificate (available at the Social Welfare Office Sozialamt, Reichenbachstraße 8, 83022 Rosenheim)

If you seek out the paediatrician stand-by-duty at the RoMed Klinikum (Wednesday 13 -19 pm, Saturday, Sunday, Public Holiday 9 – 19 pm,  08031 / 365-3462) you also need the health insurance card or a health insurance certificate.

 Birth Certificates

In order to have birth certificates issued, asylum-seeking-families should best immediately make an appointment at the Registry Office. It is helpful to have a person of a welcoming committee accompany you or someone, who can translate your native language.

Necessary for the issuing of birth certificates:

 Attendance of both parents  Identity card of the parents (if available) or other documents, proving your identity (e.g.. birth certificates or marriage certificate)  As the case may be, proof of date of arrival

 Child Care / Day Care

Germany has compulsory education. Child Care in day nursery or kindergarden is voluntary. However, also children from asylum-seeking families have a right for a place in a kindergarden. Child care in a day nursery or kindergarden can make it easier for your child to learn German. It can also play with other children. You can use this – for you free time – for important steps for your stay in (e. g. German courses).

Children aging from 1 -3 years are cared for in the day nurseries in Rosenheim. Children aging 3 years and more can visit the kindergarden.

Necessary for the application at day nursery or kindergarden:

- Documents for a residence permit / settlement permit / right of residence / stay of deportation (toleration of stay) or registration card for asylum-seekers (BüMA) respectively proof of date of arrival - Yellow U-Personal Child Care Record (should this not exist yet, please have one issued during your next visit to the paediatrician and hand it in later to the day nursery or kindergarden) - Vaccination card of your child (should this not exist yet, please have a vaccination card issued during your next visit to the paediatrician and hand it in later to the day nursery or kindergarden

 Assumption of Costs for the Costs of the Facility for Children

Low income earner parents have the possibility to fill out an application for the Assumption of Cost for the costs of the facility for children.

 Health Insurance

After a stay of 15 months in Germany, it is possible to be admitted to a health insurance agency. In this case, the child will be insured together with the insured parent. You will then also receive an insurance card for your child. Please always take this along with you when consulting a doctor or the hospital.

Necessary for the application is a birth certificate

Asylum-seekers with a shorter stay in Germany must collect a health insurance certificate at the Social Welfare Office before they consult a doctor. With this insurance certificate you can consult a general practitioner, a gynaecologist, a dentist, a paediatrician or in the care of an emergency, go to the hospital. Should a family have to consult a further doctor, they must collect a new insurance certificate and at the same time present a letter of referral of the attending doctor. This also applies for the consultation of a medical specialist.

 Right to a Name

The right to a name is a topic when the birth certificate is issued. It is helpful to have a person of a welcoming committee accompany you or someone who can translate your native language

 Child Custody

In Germany you principally refer to child custody as the fostering, attendance and upbringing of a child.

If the parents are married, they, in principal, have joint custody

If the parents are not married, the mother, in principal, has sole custody. Should the mother agree to joint custody, the Youth Welfare Office can certify joint custody

 Voluntary Acknowledgement of Paternity

If a not married woman gives birth to a child in Germany, an acknowledgement of paternity must take place. This also applies, if the not married mother and father of the child live together. The acknowledgement of paternity can already be effected by the Youth Welfare Office or the Registry Office before the child is born.

 Healthy Baby Sleep

 Your child should lie on its back or on its side  At best, your baby should wear a sleep-sack  During its first year, your baby should sleep in its own bed in the parents bedroom  The temperature in the bedroom should not exceed 18°C – even in winter. (Note: You can use the bathing-water thermometer to check the room temperature  Your baby should not be able to cover itself with blankets, pillows or stuffed animals  The surrounding area of your baby should be free of smoke

 Coordinating Center Early Childhood KoKi

KoKi offers consultation, information and precise support for pregnant women, single parents and families with children aged from birth up to 3 years. The consultation is free of charge, non-bureaucratic, without documentation, if desired, also anonymous. 11

Furthermore, KoKi offers in-house support (Family midwife, child attendance at home, family sick child´s nurse)

Postnatal gym can earliest begin 8 – 10 weeks after giving birth. Respective courses are offered in the office rooms of midwives and at the hospital RoMed Klinikum Rosenheim
