INFORMATION NOTICE - SEPTEMBER 2016 Urban Cycleway Projects to and Rangiora to Woodend Cycleways

This notice provides an update to residents and property owners adjacent to the routes of the Rangiora to Kaiapoi and Rangiora to Woodend cycleways about progress made on the projects. Background The Urban Cycleways Programme is a $100 million investment by the Government during the next three years, to build new cycleways in urban areas that make cycling a safer and more attractive transport choice. This is the single biggest investment in cycling in ’s history, designed to build the best cycling network for the benefit of all New Zealanders.

Beach Rd The Rangiora to Woodend cycleway is on Rangiora- KAIAPOI Major Woodend Road between Devlin Avenue and Chinnerys Road. What happens now? We are currently working on the design phase of the projects. Over the next few months, we will be contacting stakeholders and adjoining landowners to discuss the projects. We anticipate that the final designs will be completed in early 2017 with construction scheduled to commence in late 2017. How wide will the cycleways be? 2-2.5m wide.

What type of surface will the cycleways have? Sealed.

Which side of the road will the Rangiora to Woodend cycleway be on? The design assessment process has determined the south side of Rangiora-Woodend Road is the preferred option.

Are the cycleways only for bicycles or will I be able to walk/scooter on it? The cycleway will be designated as a ‘shared path’ which will allow pedestrians as well as bicycle riders, mobility scooters and wheeled scooters to use it. If you have additional questions please contact us.
