We invite you to join us as we continue to Set the Pace in the Knowledge Race! The Science Fair Foundation of British Columbia, with title sponsor STEMCELL Technologies, are pleased to announce that the 21st Annual STEMCELL Science Fair Fun Run will be held on May 24, 2020 at Athletes Village Plaza in Vancouver, BC. Join the 2020 STEMCELL Science Fair Fun Run in support of Science Fairs and young scientists across BC and the Yukon!
The STEMCELL Science Fair Fun Run is the largest timed 5K race in BC and one of the largest events in BC’s technology industry. This event provides a great opportunity to connect with professionals, experts, and entrepreneurs in the Science and Technology community, while participating for fun giveaways and prizes. The proceeds of this event go to the Dr. Michael Smith Science Fair Endowment to support the promotion and development of Science Fair Programs throughout British Columbia and the Yukon.
Students from Team BC and Yukon will be featured at the event along with their award-winning projects. This year at the 58th Annual Canada-Wide Science Fair, 70 students in grades 7 to 12 from across BC and the Yukon were selected from 13 Regional Science Fairs to participate at the national event. Team BC and the Yukon received 140 awards and scholarships valued at $194,550, which included 6 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 21 bronze medals! This family-friendly event is the key fundraiser for the Science Fair programs that support project-based science education in BC and the Yukon.
[Science Fairs open] your view to what you are capable of, even at “a young age, and connects you with others who pursue their passions.

I had no idea how much of an impact participating in Science Fairs would have on my life. The places I have had the opportunities to “travel to, the people I have met and the doors it has opened have so significantly impacted me. I feel so very fortunate.

Science Fair is the thing I look forward to most in the school year. “It’s allowed me to learn more about not only the science fair subjects I’ve chosen, but about myself and my skill set. My communication and presentation skills have developed immensely. Another important thing science fair has allowed me to do, is cultivate relationships with like-minded young individuals. I would never trade my science fair time for anything.

[Science Fairs] broadened my view of scientific study and made me “realize that what I decide to do in my youth can actually make an impact on the world if I indulge in what I am passionate about. Also, it pushed me to brainstorm how I can contribute to society scientifically, for I know that there are those out there who are willing to listen to my ideas.
