Our new food truck is being shipped next week! Next week Colombine, a who is studying to be a Priest, will be here to visit. He will be giving a talk in the Marian SIGN UP NOW to help off- load Center between the 8:30 & 11am Mass Sunday, May 12th (Just seeing if anyone reads the bulletin) Archbishop Etienne is moving to Seattle June 1st to eventually become the new Archbishop of Seattle.

 How Bishop Etienne’s Succession Happens

 This is provided by Fr. Leo Walsh and describes how a new Archbishop for Anchorage will be selected and how things within our Archdiocese will be administered.

 Archbishop’s letter indicates that he will move to Seattle on June 1st and it appears he will take on his new office June 7th. He does so by showing the Apostolic letter to Archbishop Sartain and Seattle College of . At the moment he shows the letter, Anchorage becomes , i.e., the seat of the bishop is vacant and the Holy See starts looking for a new Archbishop.

 Until June 7th (or whenever he shows the letter), Archbishop Etienne remains in office in Anchorage with the powers of a Diocesan Administrator. There are two possibilities for the administration of the Archdiocese once Archbishop Etienne takes on his new ministry in Seattle. a. The Holy Father names an Apostolic Administrator for the Archdiocese beforehand. This is usually a neighboring bishop or a retired bishop in the area, but it really can be anybody he chooses. b. If an Apostolic Administrator is not named, then the College of Consultors must meet to elect a Diocesan Administrator within 8 business days of the See becoming vacant (in this case, by June 19th). The Diocesan Administrator takes office from the moment he is notified and accepts. The primary job of an Apostolic or Diocesan Administrator is to carry out any juridical acts validly made by the previous Archbishop before he left office and to keep the home fires burning. During the interim, life goes on pretty much as normal until a new Archbishop is named.

St. Mary’s School Angel Fund: In the Narthex, there is a bulletin board display containing fish with different dollar amounts and envelopes on the back of each fish. The dollar amounts range from as little as $250 to as much as $4280, the full cost of tuition for a second-eighth grader. Please consider selecting a fish and dropping it in the blue lockbox on the table. In addition to a check, please write if you would like your name or anonymous displayed as a donor. Donor’s names will be displayed with new fish in the net, indicating that the disciples have been “caught” or gathered. All donations will go directly to the St. Mary’s School Angel fund, exclusively for students’ tuition assistance.
