NEW YORK, May 7, 2013 — As the start of a new hurricane season approaches, Spanish-speaking consumers with questions about disaster preparedness and the details of their auto, homeowners, flood insurance and business insurance policies can call a hotline, hosted by WXTV 41, the evening of Thursday, May 9th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Spanish-speaking volunteers from the Insurance Information Institute (I.I.I.) and the Latin Agents and Brokers Association (L.A.B.A.) will be available to answer questions and provide information about insurance coverage.

The insurance hotline was created due to the high number of Hispanic consumers in the tri-state area requesting information regarding their insurance in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.

“Noticias Univision 41” (Univision 41 News), including “Univision 41 A Tu Lado” (Univision 41 On Your Side) regularly inform and empower consumers with resources and information, including those affected by disasters. WXTV Univision 41 is the leading Spanish-language television station in the New York area. To support the efforts of WXTV, the I.I.I. and L.A.B.A. are providing Spanish-language insurance experts to respond to phone lines and provide consumers with preparedness tips and insurance related information.

Noticias Univision 41’s “A tu Lado” (Univision 41 News On Your Side) consumer advocacy reporter Berenice Gartner, will report live from the phone bank for the 6 p.m. edition of “Noticias Univision 41,” anchored by Rafael Pineda and Adriana Vargas.
