The hospital, in partnership with the patients and families, endeavours to achieve health and social gain through effective treatment and education of patients who, following illness or injury, require dedicated interdisciplinary rehabilitation services. The hospital aims to achieve this in a manner that is equitable and transparent in its service delivery, sensitive and responsive to those availing of its services and supportive of the staff entrusted with its delivery. This includes having an effective Board structure; evaluation of the Board and its meetings; review of duties and liabilities of Board members; review of the Terms of Reference of Board sub-committees; compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, GDPR compliance, and Corporate Governance training. The Board’s knowledge and understanding of hospital matters is enhanced by membership of staff and patient representatives on the Board. Hospital Activity and Performance Data Reporting Monthly reports are circulated to the Board to ensure its members are fully informed in relation to all key issues and milestones on an ongoing basis. New laws were introduced at a rapid pace on the basis of compelling public health and economic concerns. Universities play a vital role in ensuring that laws are effective but also that rights and fundamental freedoms are protected insofar as possible, even in emergency circumstances. To address this, the COVID-19 Law and Human Rights Observatory1 of Trinity College Dublin engages in research across the full range of Ireland’s legal response to COVID-19. Academics in the Observatory the work with research assistants to identify, aggregate, contextualise, explain, and analyse the legal components of Ireland’s COVID-19 response. We aim both to inform the public and to provoke public debate. The Observatory’s Blog2 publishes academic commentary on Ireland’s legal response to COVID-19 as it evolves. The Observatory also provides an unofficial consolidated version of Ireland’s regulatory response to COVID-19, as well as a range of official guidance documents. This is the fourth public policy report of the Observatory. Dervla was joined by many CONTENTS members of the Society as well as guests spanning a wide range of organisations associated with the profession and the Society. The guest of honour for the evening was Fine Gael Dublin MEP, Brian Hayes.     Mr. Paul Reid, Chief Executive Officer & Chair HSE National Crisis Management Team (NCMT), Health Services Executive, Dr Steevens’ Hospital, Dublin 8, D08 W2A8 18th January 2021 Via email to: [email protected] Dear Paul, Following the recent meeting of the COVID-19 National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET), I wish to bring to your attention, as Chair of the HSE NCMT, the following decision of the NPHET which is now required to be actioned by the HSE and Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC): • The NPHET endorsed the proposals for testing of close contacts as set out within “Review of duration of restriction of movements for individuals exposed, or potentially exposed, to Covid-19 (via close contact with a confirmed case only)”, to include: o The recommencement of testing of close contacts amongst the general public at day 5, as soon as swabbing, testing and contact tracing capacity can facilitate this development; o Close contacts of any positive case who has travelled from Great Britain, South Africa or Brazil should continue to be requested to self-isolate and get a test at day 5; o The urgent implementation of day 5 and day 10 testing for HCWs designated as close contacts, with exit from restricted movements if the Day 10 test is reported as ‘not detected’ I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and the wider team across the HSE for your ongoing support and work across the health and social care services as we move through the COVID-19 National Public Health Emergency. Students achieved 92.9% a* - c grades across 7 gcSe subjects or more and 92.7% a* - c grades in 3 or more subjects at a-level. The northern ireland average for achieving 3 a*-c grades at a-level is 78% which shows that we have continued our trend of being well above the ni average and are firmly established as one of the leading schools in the province. Kirsty Laverty deserves special recognition for achieving 10A*/A grades at GCSE level. A further 18 students received 9A*/A grades. Mr Rafferty praised the students’ efforts, "In our 90th year it is reassuring to know that our students are benefiting from a top class educational provision in St Louis Grammar. We are in a position to deliver a consistent series of excellent results each year without fail. This year’s cohort of students are a real credit to their families and local communities. Our results are impressive in that almost 50% of our students achieved at least 7 GCSE A*/A grades. Students should be extremely proud of their achievements.” At A-Level, congratulations must go to Bronagh Hardy, Sian McGarel and Alex Meyer who attained 4A*/A grades. Also well done to Jack McCann and Natasha McDonnell who received an amazing 3A*s. In addition, 23 students were awarded 3A*/A grades in their A-Levels.
