At the time, I did not know that they represented survivors as well, so my thoughts were focused on not having my name on a bag.

We sat in the pavilion a bit and I looked through the program and saw the services that were being offered to people diagnosed with cancer. I remember that a program caught my eye, and that’s how I eventually got in contact with the American Cancer Society.

I had my surgery the end of June and started chemo treatments in July. I continued further treat- ments until December of the following year - 2006.

I’m not much of a make-up person, but I knew that I wanted to look as good as I could when I was undergoing chemo. I pulled out the program that I got from the Relay and called the number for the Look Good/Feel Better program the ACS was offering. My mission was to learn how to draw on my eyebrows, but I got a whole lot more.

I spoke with Mary. She signed me up for the next Look Good/Feel Better class, and then she told me all the other things that ACS could offer me. Soon a big packet arrived with more information for me. I attended the Look Good/Feel Better session and met Laurie Salimbeni my friend Agnes who also is an ovarian cancer survi- vor.
