THE 911 CARRERA GTS

 The GTS is the most dynamic 911 Carrera model, sitting between the Carrera S and GT3 in the range  Uprated with 30 hp more than the Carrera S and 10 per cent greater torque, plus GTS specific features such as wider rear track, distinctive nose design and black-finished styling highlights  Sport Chrono package with dynamic engine mounts, steering-wheel mounted mode switch and a modified sports  Interior features include characteristic ‘GTS’ Alcantara trim with new stitching pattern and sports steering wheel  Powered by a 2,981 cc, horizontally opposed, water-cooled flat six engine with twin , tuned to deliver 450 hp at 6,500 rpm and 550 Nm of torque between 2,150 rpm and 5,000 rpm  Capable of accelerating from 0 - 62 mph in as little as 3.6 seconds (Carrera 4 GTS) and reaching a maximum of 193 mph (Carrera GTS), with capability to return up to 34.0 mpg Combined / 188 g/km of CO2 (fastest acceleration figure with PDK with Launch Control activated)  On sale now, priced from £94,316

 The 911 Carrera GTS builds upon the performance of the Carrera S, offering an extra 30 hp from its tuned flat-six engine and greater agility with a wider rear track and dynamic engine mounts fitted as standard  The 911 Carrera GTS is constructed from a mix of aluminium and steel components to give the optimal combination of strength with low weight. Where Porsche engineers have deemed it advantageous, additional metals such as have been used  The suspension of the 911 Carrera GTS comprises of McPherson struts on the front axle and a multi-link rear layout. Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) is fitted as standard which lowers the body by 10mm. The GTS Coupe features PASM with sports suspension, lowering the body by a further 10 mm  The Carrera GTS is based on the 44 mm wider all-wheel drive 911 , measuring 1,852 mm across the rear wheel arches on both two and four- wheel drive GTS models - apart from a purposeful stance, dynamic benefits include greater resistance to body roll and higher cornering agility  Anti-roll bars are used front and rear with the option of the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll compensation system. Rear wheel steering is also available on the Carrera GTS, increasing chassis responsiveness and high-speed lane change stability  The 2,981 cc flat-six engine in the 911 Carrera GTS generates its greater horsepower thanks to newly-developed turbochargers and a higher boost pressure. With twin intercoolers cooling the charge of air, and both VarioRam Plus and adjustable exhaust cam timing offering fine tuning of the engine’s operation, the GTS produces a maximum power of 450 hp at 6,500 rpm and peak torque of 550 Nm between 2,150 and 5,000 rpm  The Carrera GTS has a seven-speed manual gearbox as standard. The Porsche twin- seven-speed automatic gearbox (PDK) is available as an

option, with manual control of gearshifts via the gear selector or paddles fixed behind the steering wheel. The engine’s output is delivered to the rear wheels via a twin plate clutch. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) is also standard in combination with a mechanical locking rear differential (electronically controlled on PDK-equipped cars)  Carrera 4 and Targa GTS models feature electro-hydraulically controlled Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive, apportioning drive to the rear axle according to throttle input and traction  The Sport Chrono package featured as standard allows the driver to select Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual driving programmes. In Sport mode, the engine responds even more directly, with the PDK (where fitted) set up for shorter response times and optimum shift points  Dynamic engine mounts are also standard; combining the advantages of rigid and flexible engine mountings, and offering greater handling precision and ride comfort under engine load changes, braking and through corners  The 911 Carrera GTS models are capable of accelerating from rest to 62 mph at least 0.2 seconds faster than the current Carrera S models. The fastest is the Carrera 4 GTS PDK which in Sport Plus mode can reach 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Fuel economy of up to 34.0 mpg Combined is possible, equivalent to 188 g/km of CO2  The Carrera GTS features the 16 per cent larger brake pads from the 911 Turbo model on the front axle, together with front brake discs that are 10 mm larger in diameter. These are bolted to a new aluminium brake disc hub. Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are available as an option  The 911 GTS rides on characteristic black-finished 20-inch diameter alloy wheels with centre locking nuts. The front and rear wheels are 0.5 in wider than on the Carrera S, further improving dynamic grip  The new 911 Carrera GTS has a very low coefficient of drag figure, thanks in part to the adoption of active aerodynamic technology. As before, the rear wing rises automatically at speed, reducing lift and maximising stability. Two outlets behind each rear wheel expel the spent air from the intercoolers  The 911 Carrera GTS shares the same sporting but practical interior as all 911 models. A range of options is available above and beyond the standard sports , as is an expansive list of optional equipment and personalisation options from Tequipment and Porsche Exclusive  The fourth generation of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system supports gesture activation, Apple Car Play and contains a host of advanced features  Track Precision app is now featured as standard, offering information displays on 130 pre-set race circuit layouts and together with the GPS system will generate lap data
